Civil Judge-cum-Judicial Magistrate (West) Humayun Dilawar issued warrants for the MNA and his co-accused, Zulfiqar after they failed to appear in court.
The court was to formally indict the accused for killing a man while rash driving.
Hit and run: Police reluctant to arrest ruling party MNA
During the last hearing, the court had accepted the MNA’s bail application against a surety bond of Rs200,000.
The accused, however, failed to deposit the surety on Monday.
The Kohsar police had booked Asghar for allegedly killing Raz Muhammad, a security guard of a private firm, while he was walking on a foot path in Blue Area.
Police had booked Asghar for “murder by mistake and negligent driving”.
The incident took place on August 10, 2015, but the case was registered on February 20 after the victim’s wife moved the court.
Shaheen Bibi, the victim’s wife, maintained in the FIR that her husband was walking on a footpath when he was hit by a car (GAA-124).
He was rushed to the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences, where he died.
She said that the car was being driven by the MNA, who, she said, was apparently drunk at the time.
Bibi said the victim was the sole breadwinner of the family.
On the complaint of the woman, Additional District and Sessions Judge (West) Muhammad Atta Rabbani had ordered the police to register a case against the accused.
During previous hearings, the police had informed the court that Asghar was not in the car when the incident took place, while his chauffer was driving the car that hit Zulfiqar.
