LAHORE: “Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif will soon return to the country once he makes a recovery from his heart surgery,” MNA Hamza Shahbaz said on Saturday.

He was speaking at a ceremony held in connection with Youm-i-Takbeer, at Aiwan-i-Iqbal.

Shahbaz said Nawaz Sharif had defied world pressure and conducted nuclear tests on May 28, 1998. He said the nuclear tests had made the country’s defence impregnable.

The MNA said that some elements were trying to undermine democracy and hamper the process of national development. Calling the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf chief godfather of offshore companies, Shahbaz said Imran Khan should account for PTI leader Jehangir Tareen who he said had had his loans written off.

He said Imran Khan had refused to accept the mandate of the people in the 2013 general elections. He said Imran Khan was not in favour of the country making progress.

Shahbaz said that Nawaz Sharif had worked hard for the reinstatement of judiciary but Imran Khan had done nothing in this regard. He said that during former president Pervez Musharraf’s rule, the National Accountability Bureau was unable to prove corruption against the Sharif family.

The MNA said the government had support of people who would re-elect the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz in the 2018 elections.
