KARACHI: The anti-terrorism courts’ administrative judge sent on Wednesday alleged gangster Uzair Jan Baloch to jail on a judicial remand for two weeks after the investigating officer submitted that his custody was no longer required for interrogation.

Baloch, defunct Peoples Aman Committee chief, was produced in court at the end of his 14-day physical remand in an illicit weapons case, which was lodged against him recently.

Declared a proclaimed offender in more than 40 cases of murder, kidnapping and extortion, Baloch was arrested earlier this year by the Rangers in a targeted raid.

He was then taken into 90-day preventive detention for questioning and was later handed over to the police.

The judge asked the investigating officer to produce the charge sheet in the case at the next hearing. The suspect is yet to be remanded in the other cases against him.
