LAHORE: The district and sessions judge on Thursday recovered a nine-month old girl from her father’s custody and handed her over to the mother.

The petitioner, Shagufta, a resident of Pattoki Tehsil of Kasur district, had filed a petition in the District and Sessions Judge Abdul Waheed Khan’s court.

Shagufta said that she married Muhammad Ahsraf, a resident of Butt Chowk, College Road, Township, two years ago and had a daughter named Iman Shehzadi.

She said that soon after the birth of her daughter, the relationship between them started deteriorated. She said that her husband used to quarrel with her over petty issues and also beat her sometimes forcing her to leave home and go to her parents.

After she filed a suit in the court requesting the dissolution of their marriage, she said, Ahsraf took their daughter away from her. She said she had requested him several times to return the child but he had refused to do so. She said some of her family members had also tried to persuade him, but he had not relented.

She had then filed a petition seeking a court direction to the SHO concerned to produce Ashraf and their daughter before the court.

On Thursday, the judge handed over the nine-month old Iman Shehzadi to her mother.
