A large number of journalists on Tuesday took out a rally to mark the World Press Freedom Day.
The rally was organised by the National Press Club (NPC) and Rawalpindi Islamabad Union of Journalists (RIUJ).
RIUJ President Ali Raza Alvi deplored the government and authorities’ inaction to provide security to journalists. He said 120 journalists had been killed but not a single person had been punished. RIUJ General Secretary Bilal Dar said the freedom of the press in Pakistan existed in name only.
NPC President Shakeel Anjum and NPC Secretary Imran Yaqoob Dhillon also addressed the rally.
