KARACHI:

The Rangers on Tuesday claimed to have arrested an alleged notorious target killer Kashif aka Kashif David in a pre-dawn raid near the Muttahida Qaumi Movement’s (MQM) headquarters in Azizabad.

“David is a notorious target killer of the MQM’s militant wing. We first arrested him and later recovered a huge cache of arms and ammunitions including rocket launchers and awan bombs,” explained Rangers’ wing commander Colonel Faisal while talking to the media at the raiding site. “David has been involved in a number of criminal cases, particularly targeted killings.”

The weapons recovered from a house near the party headquarters included nearly seven light machineguns (LMGs), 21 sub machineguns (SMGs), two rocket launchers, eight pistols, nearly two dozen awan bombs and hundreds of rounds as well as uniforms of law enforcement agencies. The area from where David was arrested was not disclosed by the Rangers.

Hailing from Orangi Town, David is said to be a close aide of MQM’s incarcerated notorious target killer Ajmal Pahari and former Karachi tanzeemi committee in-charge Hammad Siddiqui.

David had fled to Dubai after the launch of the targeted operation in Karachi nearly three years ago. His wife, Rahila Kashif, also condemned the arrest while talking to the media, saying that her husband was arrested months ago. However, a Rangers official rejected the claims by his family over his earlier arrest.
