Beautification sought along train track

The minister said work should be completed in densely populated areas in the first phase

Minister for Railways Khawaja Saad Rafique on Saturday ordered beautification along railway tracks from Kot Lakhpat to Shahdara. He was chairing a meeting at Railway Headquarters on improvement of the railway track from Shahdara to Raiwind.


The minister said work should be completed in densely populated areas in the first phase. Pakistan Horticulture Authority (PHA) Director General Mian Shakeel gave a presentation on the project. Various aspects of the project were discussed in the meeting.

The minister directed the PHA DG to ensure proper safety measures in areas where recreation facilities were being set up. He said an agreement in this regard would be signed with the PHA. Lahore Commissioner Abdullah Khan Sumbal, PHA Vice Chairman Iftikhar Ahmad, Waqar Sheikh, Anjum Pervaiz and DCO Captain (r) Muhammad Usman were also present.

‘Finalise plan for ML-1 upgrades’

Minister for Railways Khawaja Saad Rafique on Saturday said the PC-1 of the mainline-1 (ML-1) upgrades should be finalised as soon as possible.

He was addressing a meeting with a 23-memeber delegation which had recently returned from China.
