LAHORE:

“Allama Muhammad Iqbal has been acclaimed as a great poet across the world. His work has been translated in several languages,” DCO Muhammad Usman said on Thursday. He was speaking to the media after laying a floral wreath at Iqbal’s mausoleum on his death anniversary. He said that through his poetry Iqbal had motivated Muslims of the subcontinent.

“His poetry is a beacon of light for Muslims around the world, particularly those in the subcontinent,” Usman said. He said Iqbal was a thought-provoking leader. “Iqbal believed that political independence was a right. It was his dream to gather Muslims of the subcontinent on one platform.” The DCO urged Pakistanis to seek guidance from Iqbal’s poetry and play their role in the country’s development.
