ISLAMABAD: Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Islamabad Zone, in a major reshuffle, has transferred or posted many of its officials and personnel.

The action has been taken as the agency is introducing eight-hour shifts for its personnel at the Islamabad Airport. The previous 12-hour shifts were said to be inhuman, according to top FIA officials.

“We are making sure the best boys go to the airport,” responded an official of the agency to a question by The Express Tribune on Friday.

This is a move which, according to sources, has been taken on the directives of Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, who has reportedly ordered the FIA to streamline its affairs.

As many as 17 officials and personnel of the FIA have also been transferred to the agency’s immigration check post at the Benazir Bhutto International Airport with immediate effect.

According to an official letter, Inspector Ishaq, who was deputed to Anti Human Trafficking Cell Rawalpindi, has been transferred to the immigration check post in Islamabad. Likewise, Inspector Attaur Rehman, SI Danish Sarfaraz, SI Sajid Mehmood and 13 other officials and personnel have been posted to the airport.

Moreover, in a letter addressed to the director administration, FIA headquarters, FIA Islamabad Director Mazharul Haq Kakakhel requested that Inspector Waseem Ahmed from the AHTC be surrendered to FIA HQ in Islamabad. In his place, the letter reads, Inspector Zahid Mehommod of FIA Immigration HQ has been requested for the FIA zonal office in Islamabad.
