Joint operation: Four suspected militants arrested

Around four suspects from Sro Kalay and 18 others within the jurisdiction of Mandani police stations were arrested

At least 22 suspects were arrested in a series of search operations carried out in various parts of Charsadda on Wednesday.


Charsadda DPO Sohail Khalid said the counter-terrorism department, security forces and the police carried out a search operation within the jurisdiction of Sro Kalay and Mandani police stations.


“A large number of suspects were arrested and weapons were seized from them,” he said. Around four suspects from Sro Kalay and 18 others within the jurisdiction of Mandani police stations were arrested.


“Some of them included Afghan nationals,” he said.


According to a handout issued by CTD, four suspected militants were among those arrested in Sro Kalay and Aqrab Dag areas of Charsadda district. A rifle and two AK-47s were also seized from their possession. All four suspects were shifted to an undisclosed location for interrogation. A day earlier, the police had arrested two wanted militants in Sardaryab, Charsadda. Security has been tightened on all entry and exit points of the district.


Search operations are likely to continue against suspects under Schedule 4 of the Anti-Terrorism Act 1997.
