KARACHI: K-Electric should send bills to the consumers as per actual meter readings, said senior adviser at the ombudsman’s regional office Farzana Jabeen. She said that in many cases poor citizens are not sent bills as per meter reading, which is why they are unable to pay their dues. She made these observations at the camp office of the Malir deputy commissioner while hearing applications. She said there are instances where consumers, who earn between Rs10,000 and Rs20,000 per month and do not use air conditioners or other electrical appliances, are receiving bills between Rs50,000 and Rs80,000. Hearing applications on over-billing, adviser Muhammad Yameen asked the representative of K-Electric to address the problem and provide relief to the consumers.
