Plight of the retired: Railways issuing bounced cheques
Employees have demanded from the railways authority to speed up the superannuation payment process
RAWALPINDI:
Malik Qurban Ali Khan retired from Pakistan Railways (PR) as commercial inspector in November last year. PR issued him a cheque for Rs1,260,156 but it has bounced back three times so far. The bank has been telling Khan that the amount had not been transferred. Khan is not the only railways employees waiting for payment of their superannuation. Mian Naveed, another retiree, also holds a cheque that has been returned thrice by the bank. Many other employees are also facing the same issue. Employees have demanded from the railways authority to speed up the superannuation payment process.
