Banned Outfits: Five arrested for ‘extremist’ activities

Dozens of pamphlets with extremist content were discovered in their possession

PESHAWAR: The counter-terrorism department (CTD) arrested four members of a banned outfit on Pajagi Road in the city on Thursday. The detainees have been identified as Muhammad Anees and Muhammad Tayab, both residents of Tehkal, as well as Ataullah, a resident of Dagai Jadeed and Syed Akbar Shah from Sufid Dheri. Dozens of pamphlets with extremist content were discovered in their possession and they were shifted to an undisclosed location for interrogation. A day earlier, the CTD arrested a supposed terrorist, Naveedur Rehman, who is a resident of Saro area in Shabqadar, Charsadda. The arrest took place on Charsadda Road near Budhni Pul. Explosive material and electric detonators were discovered in his possession. The man is wanted by the police for his alleged involvement in at least seven bomb attacks on government schools and electricity pylons.
