Patron’s Trophy: Pasha guides PIA to win over Saudi Cricket

Army defeat POL as bowler’s help side to comprehensive victory

KARACHI: An impressive bowling performance by Ali Imran Pasha guided PIA to a convincing round one win over Saudi Cricket by an innings and 165 runs on the second day of their three-day fixture of Patron’s Trophy (Grade II) Cricket Tournament at the Pindi Cricket Stadium.

Resuming their first innings on 92-4, Saudi Cricket were dismissed on 143 as Pasha took four along with Syed Najaf Shah taking three to make Saudi Cricket follow-on.  Trailing by 228, Saudi Cricket began their second innings, where Pasha then took seven more wickets with Salman Saeed taking two to skittle them over for just 63.

At the Army Ground in Rawalpindi, Khadim Jan, Umair Khan and Ahmed Khan guided Army to a win over Pakistan Oilfield Limited (POL) by an innings and 59 runs.

POL resumed their innings on 20-0 but were dismissed for 94 as Jan took five wickets for 20, with Umair taking three to make POL to follow-on.

POL, trailing by 238, resumed their second innings where Ahmed took four wickets with Umair taking three again to restrict POL on 179.

Humak Engineering won their fixture against Service industries (SI) by an innings and 74 runs with the help Adil Shabbir and Izhar Hussain.

SI resumed their first innings on 69-6, and were restricted to 76 as Shabbir took five wickets with Hussain taking two.

Patron’s Trophy: 24 teams to vie it out for top prize

Trailing by 179 and asked to follow-on, SI were dismissed on 105 as Hussain dismissed three batsmen.

In another match, SBP’s Kashif Bhatti and Faisal Mubashir restricted PTV to 163 in their first innings and made them follow-on, with Mubashir taking four wickets. Bhatti took four in the second innings to end day two with PTV 175-6 in their second innings.

At the Diamond Ground, three wickets each by Hamza Nadeem and Mohibullah helped Omar Associates to restrict Asim Textile to 206 in their first innings and made them follow-on.  At end of play, Asim Textile were batting on 112-1 in their second innings.
