MIRANSHAH: A US drone strike on a compound in North Waziristan on Tuesday killed five militants, security officials said.

"A US drone fired two missiles at a militant compound in Dashgah village killing at least five militants," a senior Pakistani security official told AFP.

"We are trying to ascertain the nationality of the militants killed in the attack,” said the official.

Dashgah is around 40 kilometres west of Miranshah, the main town in the North Waziristan tribal district, which borders Afghanistan.

A security official and an intelligence official in Peshawar confirmed the attack and the death toll.

Please let's not forget Daniel Pearl or Nick Beg or the thousands of innocent American women, children, babies, and men that were murdered on 9/11 by these scum bags these nut jobs are fueled my fanaticism that is inspired by an extreme view Islam . The other options are far worse: Option 1 Ignore terrorism so Al Queda can rebuild and become a bigger threat than ever, making 9-11 look like child's play. Option 2 Invade AfPak on the ground, causing thousands upon thousands of civilian casualties, and making millions of new enemies overnight, rightly making the US the "bad guys" and resulting in again a stronger, more dangerous terrorist organization. The drone wars are the best thing that has ever happened in the fight against terrorism.

Cautious | 13 years ago | Reply @mashiat-ur-rehman - what cruel act? what innocent people? Based on reports from Pakistan it appears that a bunch of bad guys were occupying a compound in N. Waziristan - those bad guys were killed. If innocent people were being killed don't you think that the militants would be the first to have reporters on the scene? If you don't want the USA to use smart bombs then ask your govt to get off it's duff and take real control over this territory - the USA has repeatedly asked them but the apparently the "bad guys" won't allow the govt troops in without a fight.
