Going green: Spring Plantation Campaign shoots off

The commissioner directed officials to make sure that the plantation target was met

The Spring Plantation Campaign was officially inaugurated in Bahawalpur division by Commissioner Captain (r) Saqib Zafar on Monday. He kicked off the campaign by planting a shrub in the garden of the Circuit House. Forest Conservator Faisal Haroon told the participants that they would be planting close to 1.590 million plants in the Bahawalpur division during the campaign. The Forest Department will sell 2.3 million plants and cuttings at various nurseries set up in the division. Each plant will cost Rs3 and a cutting will be sold for Rs1, he said. The Forest Department has set up 30 sale points in the division – 14 in Rahim Yar Khan, nine in Bahawalpur and seven in Bahawalnagar. The commissioner directed officials to make sure that the plantation target was met.
