Mishal Asad, the uber-talented Creative Head at Cross Stich, talks about special pieces inside her vault

How/when did you get interested in jewellery?

My love for jewellery developed back when I was only a teenager. I remember instances where I would go into random stores and invest everything I had on the most ridiculous hoop earrings.

What are your favourite pieces of jewellery (precious
or costume)?

I have two favourite pieces. The first is a polki set I got for my sister’s wedding, and the second is a neckpiece from Outhouse Jewellery.

Where did you buy/get them from?

I bought the Outhouse piece when they exhibited in Karachi earlier this year, and the polki set from an Indian expo last year.

Share a story with us about how you acquired one of your favourite pieces?

It’s a funny story. My sister and I went to the Indian expo on a mission to find her bridal jewellery, but instead, we came across the polki set, and I instantaneously fell in love with it. I called dibs on it so she was left empty handed, which obviously infuriated her immensely!

Is there any piece you are emotionally attached to and why?

I only buy a piece when I am truly head over heels in love with it, and even though this occurs far too often, all my jewellery is immensely precious to me for this reason.

Is there anything on your radar that you want to get in the future?

I love researching upcoming collections. If you go through my iPhone’s camera roll, you’d find quite a few things on my wish list, so here’s hoping my brother gets married soon!
