Lyari gang war member arrested in Peshawar

Peshawar's Counter Terrorism Department and Intelligence Bureau conducted raids based on a tip-off

PESHAWAR: Peshawar's Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) and Intelligence Bureau (IB) in a joint search operation on Saturday arrested a member of Karachi's Baba Ladla gang in Peshawar.

Rashid Baloch alias Chechi was arrested when the two agencies conducted raids based on  a tip-off. According to reports, Baloch was seeking shelter in Peshawar as a result of the ongoing Karachi operation.

Baloch, a key terrorist of the notorious gang in Karachi's Lyari area, was wanted in Karachi for his involvement in terrorist activities including, attacks on Rangers and other high-profile murders, CTD officials confirmed.

Following the arrest, the gang member was handed over to Karachi police.

Sindh Rangers in January announced the arrest of Lyari gang war leader Uzair Baloch, during a search operation on the outskirts of Karachi.

“The gang leader was arrested in a targeted operation outside Karachi, in the early hours of Saturday as he attempted to enter the metropolis,” a press release issued by the paramilitary force stated.
