ABBOTTABAD: K-P Governor Sardar Mehtab Ahmed Khan has said at least 0.8 million displaced people in Fata have been repatriated to their native areas, while the rest would return by the end of 2016.

He issued this statement when speaking to a group of journalists from Abbottabad Press Club at Governor House in Peshawar on Monday.

The governor said reconstruction and provision of basic amenities such as health, education and employment have begun in Fata.

Just degrees, no quality

Mehtab also pointed out universities in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa have turned into degree awarding institutions as they have lost the standard of education they were supposed to impart. The governor said the culture of research at the universities had declined which badly affected the standard of education. However, he added the federal government was taking measures to improve it.
