KARACHI: MQM chief Altaf Hussain on Saturday formed a nine-member ‘supreme council’ to guide the party and oversee its affairs in case of any extraordinary situation in the absence and unavailability of Altaf himself. The party, in a statement, announced that the newly formed council will guide the Rabita Committee and workers, while the Rabita Commitee would continue to perform its duties. The statement also revealed that it had been decided that Nadeem Nusrat, who was made the acting convener of the party last October, is to continue as the permanent convener of the party. The nine-member council includes Nadeem Nusrat, Dr Farooq Sattar, Farogh Naseem, Nasreen Jalil, Kishwar Zehra, Kunwar Naveed, Rauf Siddiqui, Babar Ghori and Iftikhar Hussain.
