Community members have asked the government to shift international non-governmental organisations from residential areas of University Town. They also took strong exception to other commercial activity, saying the area has become a hub for offices.
They were speaking during a Water and Sanitation Services Peshawar (WSSP) meeting on Tuesday, which included senior government officials. WSSP Board Director Khalid Masood and general manager Nasir Ghafoor, Additional Assistant Commissioner Attaur Rahman, building control authority official Nasirullah Khan, Sadia Shafiq and Humera Gilani were in attendance.
The community members asked authorities to take steps to remove foreign NGOs and other commercial entities from University Town, said a WSSP statement on Tuesday.
Officials present were told the road in front of the American Club had been open for traffic, while officials of the Iranian Consulate agreed to remove barricades, but sought more time.
