ISLAMABAD: The federal ombudsman on Thursday restrained Pakistan Housing Authority (PHA) and the Federal Government Employees Housing Foundation (FGEHF) from announcing any new housing project until completion of and handing possession of land over to allottees in previously announced schemes.

The ombudsman further directed the PHA and FGEHF to refund membership fee within 30 days to all those allottees who had not been given flats so far in various schemes in violation of the commitments made.

The directions were issued by the Wafaqi Mohtasib (Ombudsman)’s Secretariat on a number of complaints it received of mal-administration against the PHA on account of high cost of apartments in a project launched in I-16/3.

The PHA and FGEHF have also been directed to reconsider the costs of apartments for government employees in the said sector.

Ahsaan Ahmad, senior adviser (law) and Grievance Commissioner for Overseas Pakistanis was the investigation officer in the cases.
