27 brigadiers promoted to major general rank

Promotions were approved at a meeting with Army chief General Raheel Sharif in the chair

As many as 27 brigadiers were promoted to the rank of major general in a meeting chaired by Army chief General Raheel Sharif on Thursday.

The promotions, including eight from the army medical corps, were approved at a meeting of army's promotion board, Radio Pakistan reported.

Earlier on September 23, the board approved promotion of four major generals to the rank of lieutenant generals as part of a major reshuffle ahead of the retirement of key military commanders.

Those who were promoted included Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Director General Major General Asim Salim Bajwa, Director General Military Operations Major General Aamer Riaz, Bahawalpur’s General Officer Commanding Major General Sadiq Ali and Vice Chief of General Staff Major General Umer Farooq Durrani.
