An improvised explosive device (IED), planted near the Islamabad-Peshawar Motorway toll plaza went off when an army vehicle was passing, a police source told The Express Tribune.

The outlawed Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan claimed responsibility for the attack in an email sent to journalists. "TTP commandos carried out the IED attack on an army truck on the Ring Road near motorway," TTP spokesperson Mohammad Khorasani said in a statement.
Eleven soldiers were on board the vehicle, which was partially damaged. The military vehicle was entering Peshawar when it was targeted by the IED.
The injured were shifted to a nearby hospital and a search operation was launched in the area.

“Four kilogrammes of dynamite was used in the IED that targeted the security forces’ vehicle,” SP Rural Shakir Bangash told The Express Tribune.
