ISLAMABAD: Pakistan was quick to condemn the terrorist attack on the Indian Air Force (IAF) base in Pathankot on Saturday.

“We extend heartfelt condolences to the government and people of India and the bereaved families and wish the wounded speedy and full recovery,” Foreign Office spokesman Qazi Khalilullah said in a statement.

Indian authorities said suspected militants attacked the IAF base in Pathankot in the wee hours of Saturday. Three IAF officials lost lives in this attack. The incident happened after a recent thaw in relations between the two nuclear armed neighbours.

“Building on the goodwill created during the recent high-level contacts between the two countries, Pakistan remains committed to partner with India as well as other countries in the region to completely eradicate the menace of terrorism afflicting our region,” Khalilullah said.
