ISLAMABAD:


The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Resources has received 25 applications for setting up liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) filling stations in the Rawalpindi division, out of which four have been approved.


“Out of 25 applications, construction licences have been awarded for four after fulfilment of all formalities and requirements.


The permits have been issued to Saif Gas and Country Auto Gas for constructing two LPG terminals in Chakwal, one in Attock and one in Jhelum.


According to officials, licences to the remaining applicants will be granted soon after verification of sites by third-party inspectors in accordance with the LPG Rules 2001 and Regulatory Framework.They said LPG stations could only be set up on roads or highways having minimum width of 60 feet, which was the criterion for the issuance of no-objection certificate for fuel outlets.


Commenting on the prevailing natural gas situation across the country, they SNGPL and SSGC had not issued new industrial gas connections during 2013-14 and 2014-15.
