Big B said Bhansali is a "master behind the camera" and termed the trio of lead actors in the film -- Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone and Priyanka Chopra -- as "extraordinary talent".

Ranveer revealed in an interview that he was thrilled to receive a handwritten note from Big B: "I received my first award for Bajirao Mastani. A handwritten note from Mr Bachchan. It has become a barometer for performances. Whenever I get a note from Mr Bachchan, I get it framed and keep it in my bank locker."

His other appreciation was not in the form of words; filmmaker Aditya Chopra was at a loss for words after watching the film. "I don't think he likes me to tell people what he tells me. For the first time, he was fumbling for words. He was unable to find words. He did not know what to say. He was very proud," said Ranveer, who is working with the director in upcoming venture Befikre.

Even veteran actor Anil Kapoor became an instant fan as he compared Ranveer's character to Hollywood star Russell Crowe's character from the 2000 historical drama film Gladiator.
