Millad preparations: Traffic plan for Pindi announced

Entry of tractor trolleys, trucks banned in city

RAWALPINDI: The City Traffic Police (CTP) on Tuesday announced a comprehensive traffic plan to facilitate the participants of processions of Eid Millad.

A heavy force including deputy superintendents and inspectors of the traffic police have been assigned the task to tackle with traffic in Murree and in other tehsils of Rawalpindi on the eve of 12th Rabiul Awal.

The entry of tractor trolleys, mini-trucks, and large truck in the processions has been banned by CTP due to security reasons.

CTO Shoaib Khurram Janbaz on Tuesday announced the traffic plan. He said traffic wardens, inspectors and other high officers of the CTP have been deputed to facilitate processions.

The CTO said that no heavy traffic would be allowed to enter in any procession. He said that all the traffic coming towards routes of processions would be diverted on alternative routes.

Sharing details, the CTO said traffic approaching Saddar via Rawal Road Chowk would be diverted to Rawal Road while the vehicles going towards Islamabad from Marrir Chowk would also be turned towards Tipu Road.

Similarly, the entry of traffic would also be allowed to ply on route of main procession that included College Chowk, Fawara Chowk, Raja Bazaar, Bansanwala Chowk and Banni Chowk. Commuters who want to go to Islamabad from Rawalpindi will use Airport Road, Rawal Road and Murree Road.

The citizens should use Gawalmandi, City Saddar Roads, Novelty Cinema Chowk, Ganjmandi and Carriage Factory roads for reaching Islamabad from Rawalpindi, he said.
