LAHORE: The four drones acquired by Lahore police in May for surveillance have yielded good results, Headquarters SP Omer Saeed says. He says the drones were used for the surveillance of Data Sahib’s urs, the chehlum of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) and monitoring of physical tests for the recruitment of constables.

He says the surveillance of such events is difficult with the naked eye, and even using helicopters or CCTV cameras. He says if some suspicious activity is reported in such a gathering, the drones can help acquire close view of the site.

A drone can fly at a height of 200 feet and costs nearly Rs100,000. It can fly for 10 minutes in one go. Saeed says monitoring through the drones has helped alleviate concerns regarding irregularities during physical tests for recruitment in police.
