Following the terrorist attacks in Paris and the resultant backlash suffered by Muslims, two men decided to read out “shocking” verses from the Bible to people telling them it was the Holy Quran.
Paulo Coelho defends Holy Quran as 'book that changed the world'
“Since the recent events in Paris, and the association between ISIS and Islam, the Islamic belief has been under constant scrutiny. Muslims have been accused of following a religion that has no place in our Western culture,” the two say in the video.
“This made us wonder: What about Christianity…a religion that has influenced our culture greatly?” they add.
The duo read out some of the text from the Bible such as, “I do not allow for a woman to teach.. You will have to cut off her hand.. Do not forgive her” and “If two men sleep with each other they will both have to be killed.”
'Study Quran' to counter extremism by explaining ambiguous scripture
On hearing the snippets from the Bible, one man responded, “If you've been raised with this book and these kinds of thoughts, it's going to influence the way you think.”
“How could anyone believe in this?! That’s unbelievable to me,” a woman replied.
Another said, “The world is changing and I think they should have to adapt to it.”
One man just had this to say, “This sounds ridiculous!”
“I didn’t know that this kind of stuff was also in this book..Cutting off people’s hands…I mean, apparently that’s just the way they are,” a woman said.
When asked if the text was to be compared with the Bible, what would be the biggest differences, one man said, “Hearing this, I would think Quran is more aggressive.”
