Four APS militants to be hanged as army chief signs black warrants

Army chief General Raheel Sharif signed on Monday black warrants for four militants involved in the Army Public School attack in December last year.

The army chief signed the black warrants of Maulvi Abdus Salam, Hazrat Ali, Mujeebur Rehman and Sabeel alias Yahya nearly a year after the horrific massacre, Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) said.

This was the first such sentence endorsed by the army chief after an order of the Supreme Court on August 2015 which gave legal cover to the establishment of military courts.

President rejects clemency appeals of four APS attackers

The move came after President Mamnoon Hussain rejected clemency appeals of the four convicts on receiving the premier’s advice for the same on November 20.

Earlier, a military court sentenced all four terrorists to death after the government lifted the moratorium on the penalties in the country under the National Action Plan.

On December 16 2014, militants launched an attack on the army-run school, killing over 150 people, mostly schoolchildren.

Syed | 8 years ago | Reply Pakistani Courts are Tenis Courts, where the blames are thrown from one side to another side for years and finally the case is dropped. These courts function on Bribe Lubrication and get jammed as soon as bribing finishes. Our courts have been declared, The Most Corrupt Courts of the World", where one starts paying bribe as he enters the premises of the courts. Try it yourself.

khalid | 8 years ago | Reply these hangings are imporatnt only for crimes,and not for an idealogy or a narrative,hangings create heros for people following that narrative,death is their ultimate goal and desire ie to give life in name of god,counter narrative is the ultimate answer to this problem,when people are convinced to give life for a cause,u have to convince them their cause or idealogy is wrong,otherwise these measures are not very beneficial.

The purpose should be to look at a big picture, their support base, ideology, contributory factors, government policies and many other aspects. Those who come to kill wearing suicide jackets are not going to stop with these tactics.

Munir | 8 years ago | Reply The Military courts, the executions, the military operation will sadly do nothing to the ostensible increase in the extremist narrative within the country. There has to be an alternative long term plan to solve this crisis.
