BATKHELA:

Quake victims of the Ala Dhand union council in Batkhela held a protest on Saturday morning over alleged favouritism in the distribution of relief packages and compensation. Malakand Division QWP Vice Chairman Muhammad Ibrar Khan Yousafzai, PML-N K-P Vice President Muhammad Najeem Khan led the demonstration. They said genuine quake victims were not registered. Furthermore, a large number of people who were not eligible to receive relief packages and compensation cheques had, indeed, obtained them. The leaders contended that authorities were taking “political revenge” from people genuinely affected by the October 26 earthquake. They demanded increased compensation packages and urged the government to redo the survey.
