Massacre in Quetta

Letter February 18, 2013
There is a strong possibility that some security personnel may be complicit in these acts.

JUBAIL, SAUDI ARABIA: Most of Pakistan is speechless and shocked at the loss of life at the hands of sectarian terrorists in Quetta on February 16 wherein more than 85 innocent men, women and children lost their lives, while countless were injured and are still fighting for their lives. Balochistan’s governor was shocked at the carnage that was carried out under his nose. He was only able to utter partial truths on what is going on in the province.

The governor blamed the failure of the intelligence agencies for this mayhem and called them either clueless about the terrorists or too scared to go after them. I wish the governor could have spelled out the complete truth that there is a strong possibility that some security personnel may be complicit in these acts, taking sides with sectarian terrorists on ideological grounds. This has been proved before in other terrorists attacks, such as the one on the naval base in Karachi or at the air base in Kamra. Attacks on these bases were supported and guided by insiders. Perhaps, it is time for purging of the security forces.
