'I don’t aim to become him, copy him because I am talented myself... want to make my own name and identity,' he says

The ongoing parallels to Bollywood actor Ranveer Singh have recently been addressed by Pakistani actor Hammad Shoaib, who claims he is primarily concerned with creating his own identity, rather than imitating others.

The actor recently discussed social media reactions, industry preconceptions, and the criticism that comes with being in the public spotlight on Ahmed Ali Butt's podcast Excuse Me.

Over the years, Hammad, recognised for his roles in dramas like Ishq Hai, Kaisi Teri Khudgharzi, Raaz-e-Ulfat, and Dil Hi Tou Hai, has been involved in several well-known projects.

The actor revealed in the podcast that early in his career, he was often compared to Ranveer Singh because of similarities in their appearances.

“I was initially compared to Bollywood actor Ranveer Singh because my looks resemble his,” Hammad said. “I was asked about it in interviews as well, and I always responded that he is a great actor and a brilliant performer”.

However, he made it clear that imitation was never his goal.

“I don’t aim to become him or copy him because I am talented myself and want to make my own name and identity,” he added. “That’s exactly what I did. I made my name through my work, and Alhamdulillah, there is no such tag on me of copying Ranveer”.

Additionally, the topic of online criticism came up. Hammad claimed he had mostly avoided harsh trolling, even though many performers do experience the negative aspects of social media.

“I have read a few trolling comments about myself,” he admitted. “One said, ‘Yeh pathar ka actor hai’ — that I am a stone-faced actor. Another comment he’d read said, ‘Wow, it’s a great acting piece, please do come on television because I don’t watch it anymore”.

Despite such remarks, the actor said he rarely goes through YouTube comments and prefers to focus on the overwhelmingly positive feedback.

“I am fortunate enough not to become a victim of harsh social media trolling. Mostly, I receive appreciation and praise from fans, and I am glad for that,” he said.

Hammad’s comments reflect a growing trend among Pakistani actors who are increasingly using digital platforms to directly address criticism and define their own narratives — rather than allowing comparisons and online commentary to shape their careers.

Actor promoted new film 'Couture' at the Toronto International Film Festival

Academy Award winner Angelina Jolie had a strong message about hope and living her best life as she reflected on her family's history of cancer before the world premiere of Couture on Sunday.

The Salt and Mr. & Mrs. Smith actor was at the Toronto International Film Festival promoting her film Couture, the story of an American film director navigating the Parisian fashion industry while she is given a serious medical diagnosis and is in the midst of a divorce.

"I'm 50 now. My mother and grandmother by this age were in chemo," Jolie said, walking down the red carpet with her co-stars. "We all have these things we worry about or people we love. And it's either going to make us slow down and almost feel we can't move, take a step, or we're going to make the most of this life before it's over."

Jolie underwent a preventive double mastectomy in 2013 after learning she had inherited a high risk of breast cancer and said she hoped her story would inspire other women fighting the life-threatening disease.

She went through with the operation in part to reassure her six children that she would not die young from cancer, as her own mother did at age 56.

"She has a personal connection to the subject of illness and what that does to a body and being confronted to that. And I believe she talks the best about that," co-star Ella Rumpf said.

Actor goes off the deep end, and takes the set design with him

 (Spoiler alert!)

The internet is having yet another field day with a Danish Taimoor drama. No, it is not him handcuffing himself to a woman like he did in Mann Mast Malang but it is his portrayal of mental illness in the latest episode of Sher that took things to a whole new level.

Let’s rewind: Fajar was supposed to marry Sher’s younger brother. She bailed. Drama ensued. Sher got shot, or well, his aunt did. And now? Sher is in a full-blown mental health crisis and has been admitted to a psychiatric hospital.

Last night's episode featured a scene so unintentionally hilarious that it hijacked TikTok and sparked a thousand memes. In this now-viral clip, Sher sits slumped on the floor of his room, surrounded by a wall of scribbles. Among the chaotic scrawls are phrases like “Shut up, I am sad,” “Kill me,” and bizarrely, “Corona Virus” written in Urdu.

For reasons best left to the production team’s imagination, the psych ward room is also decorated with stock photo-style framed diagrams of brains presumably to remind every patient that yes, they are indeed crazy. Very subtle, very sensitive, very… not how psychiatric care works.

Perhaps the most bizarre and frankly unsettling aspect of this entire arc is that Sher Zaman is shown shackled to his hospital bed as if he were a high-risk prisoner rather than a patient in professional care. It’s a jarring image, one that evokes more of a prison drama than a medical facility.

Social media reacts

One user on TikTok commented, “Me as a little kid in my bedroom after being yelled at by my parents.” Relatable!

Another user said, “How I feel trying to explain something logical to my desi coworkers.” We’ve all been there!

“It literally said coronavirus.” We really wonder why?

“‘Shut up I am sad’ 😭 im gonna use this everywhere now.” Us too!

While the memes are undoubtedly hilarious and the virality is free promo, this scene does raise an important question: when will our dramas start treating mental health with the nuance it deserves? Is this our understanding of treatment?

The regression from something layered like Main Abdul Qadir Hoon, a well-thought out and executed drama that explored mental health and personal growth to Sher’s wall-of-doodles is disappointing.

It’s high time big production houses, veteran writers, and star actors collaborate to depict mental health with dignity.

Is that Khloe Kardashian or Rakhi Sawant? The Ambani wedding is attracting more memes than guests

Social media did not disappoint when it came to satirical coverage of the event

When the Ambani family decided to host a wedding extravaganza that would make even Gatsby's legendary soirees seem like a modest get-together, the internet collectively donned their finest virtual sherwanis and sarees to join in the spectacle from their couches. The universal disappointment of missing out on the coveted invitations was palpable, and social media became a hotbed of hilarious commentary.

The meme frenzy kicked off with a clever nod to the iconic Titanic line, “It’s been 84 years,” echoing the sentiment that many had: "Is this wedding ever going to end?" With wall-to-wall coverage, it seemed like the celebrations might just go on until the ship finally sank.

Jackie Shroff, ever the quirky character, turned heads by carrying his "oxygen cylinder," which was, in fact, a potted plant. This peculiar accessory spawned a wave of memes, only to be outshone by the surprise appearance of WWE star John Cena.

The wrestler’s presence at the wedding was meme gold, with fans quipping about the paparazzi photographing an "invisible man" (a nod to his popular catchphrase: “You can’t see me) and playfully urging Cena to perform his wrestling moves on unsuspecting guests.

The arrival of reality television royalty Kim Kardashian and her sister Khloe was another meme-worthy highlight. Fans couldn't resist likening Khloe to Indian Bigg Boss sensation Rakhi Sawant. Apart from that, the general awkwardness of the Hollywood crowd at such a culturally rich event was meme fodder at its finest.

And then there were the Bachchans. Jaya Bachchan's signature pout and Amitabh's dry wit were meme staples, particularly in the context of Rekha's presence. “You’re looking more beautiful than Rekha, I promise,” with a picture of Amitabh whispering something to Jaya on the red carpet was one of the recurring ones. For those not in the know, Amitabh and Rekha's alleged romantic history has been a subject of Bollywood gossip for decades, making their appearance at the same event ripe for endless internet jokes.

For board game fanatics, the wedding resulted in memes for you too. The outfit choices of Bollywood actors Ananya Panday, Khushi Kapoor and Shanaya Kapoor closely resembled Ludo pieces in yellow, green and blue lehengas, with just the red one missing.

Alluding to the multiple performances from local and internationally artists, social media began jesting that the family is attempting to recreate their Spotify Wrapped top artists live.

This wedding wasn't just a celebration; it was a meme-maker's paradise. One particular one that surfaced is relevant to every wedding with potential gate crashes, not just a billionaire’s. The meme, taken from the film 3 Idiots, showed Ambani asking which side uninvited guests were from, to which they replied, “We’re from Jio World Centre’s side,” which is where the event was held.

From Bollywood references that had the Ambani elders raising eyebrows to cheeky comments about the star-studded guest list, no aspect of this grand affair was left unroasted. The internet did what it does best: turned the most opulent wedding the world has ever seen into a playground of laughs.

Star-studded nuptials started in March with a three-day pre-wedding party with a performance by superstar Rihanna

Indian billionaire Mukesh Ambani's son marries on Friday in a lavish ceremony that has been a hot talking point at home and abroad, with his father's $260 billion-conglomerate Reliance taking to social media to heavily publicise the event.

Reliance's efforts, coupled with posts from a host of Bollywood stars and coverage in media, have helped whip up public interest in the wedding, overshadowing some critical social media posts that have questioned the opulence at a time of growing inequality in India.

Ambani's youngest son Anant, 29, is marrying his long-time girlfriend Radhika Merchant, 29, in a star-studded ceremony in Mumbai that will be attended by celebrities and politicians, such as Kim Kardashian, Mike Tyson, Tony Blair and Boris Johnson. Three days of celebratory receptions will follow.
One unnamed executive at Reliance called the event a "powerful symbol of India's growing stature on the global stage".

"The presence of esteemed individuals highlights India's economic, political, intellectual, and scientific prowess," the note, shared with reporters, said. Ambani, Asia's richest person, is famous for hosting lavish parties, especially for his three children Akash, Isha and Anant.

International artists perform and a host of Bollywood stars usually attend the gatherings, whose price tag runs into the millions. This promises to be the most extravagant of Ambani's galas so far, although it is not know how much was spent.

Reliance shares videos, photos

Some, such as opposition politician, Thomas Isaac have called the amount of spending "obscene".
"Legally it maybe their money but such ostentatious expenditure is a sin against mother earth and (the) poor," he said in a post on X.

The wedding functions have been deemed a public event, leading to traffic restrictions in a key Mumbai business district for four days, also raising public ire. With access limited and details closely guarded, information meted out to the eager public has been done partly through Reliance's official Facebook page, which has 2.3 million followers.

The account shared video clips of dance performances and photographs to give a peek into the private celebrations. One post on Reliance's Facebook account this week, which received 54,000 likes, showed the Ambani family at a private music function, dancing to a Bollywood song, which features in most Indian marriages. It was promoted with hashtags such as #ARWeddingCelebrations.

Media access to the wedding venue was restricted on Friday night, with only a limited number of photographers and TV crew allowed to capture incoming guests.

Onlookers stood with umbrellas in rain outside the venue, some clicking pictures, with the sound of Bollywood audible from inside. A foreign company executive in India, who is due to attend the Ambani wedding function this weekend, told Reuters function organisers will likely put tape on the phone camera of entering guests to ensure no pictures are taken. Most of Ambani's celebrations are closely guarded.

The wedding events started in March with a three-day pre-wedding party with 1,200 guests and a performance by superstar Rihanna, followed by a European luxury cruise with 800 guests in May. Days later, several Bollywood actresses posted photos on Instagram, sporting luxury designer labels, to their millions of followers, without any details of the Ambani cruise celebrations.

Such is the interest, Indian TV news channels are tracking the wedding minute-by-minute. "The world descends ... Guest list to what's there to eat. Every minute detail on Times Now," the TV news channel's tickers said on Friday evening.

Actor shared a clip on IG praising her fellow star

There is something especially wholesome about one drama queen – a literal drama queen, not a spoilt diva – celebrating a fellow drama queen for the world to see. Sania Saeed encapsulated that sentiment perfectly in a throwback Nadia Afgan clip on her Instagram stories.

Putting up a hilarious clip of Nadia in character struggling to read aloud from a piece of paper, Sania captioned, “Long before Suno Chanda’s Shahana. She was so good! The inimitable Nadia Afgan.”

Self-deprecatingly, Sania added, “Visual representation of how I speak in Urdu,” alongside a crying with laughter emoji.

Nadia’s portrayal of the fun-loving, witty matriarch Shahana in Suno Chanda and its subsequent sequel Suno Chanda 2 captured the hearts of all drama-lovers looking for a feel-good story. However, as Sania was at pains to point out, Nadia had made a name for herself long before immortalising Shahana on screen. Nadia started out her career in the nineties and after a string of minor roles, she rose to prominence after landing a part in Shashlik in 2000, which was later re-aired in 2011.

Sania herself, meanwhile, is also no slouch in the showbiz world, and has been active in television and theatre since the nineties. She made her cinematic debut in 2015 in Manto, a biopic based on the life of writer Saadat Hassan Manto.

In addition to sharing a love of acting, however, both Sania and Nadia share a joint love of animals, and are vocal about promoting animal rights on talk shows and social media. Last month, Nadia used her Instagram handle to raise awareness about stray dogs being brutally killed on the streets. Similarly, Sania recently publicly spoke about how parents can model kindness to animals. “People don’t respect their kids; you cannot think that they will be empathetic towards animals either,” she said.

After a Swedish doppelganger in 2021, a teen from across the border is the actor’s latest twin

Hold onto your hats, folks! Social media's abuzz yet again with another doppelganger drama, and this time, it's causing quite the stir. Brace yourselves for the tale of Hania Aamir’s Indian lookalike. Yes, you read that right – the dazzling dimple queen of Pakistani showbiz has a doppelganger, and he’s making waves from across the border!

In a video going viral on social media, a young lad from India, effortlessly lip-syncing to a Punjabi track, has come under spotlight for bearing an uncanny resemblance to Hania. The internet was quick to pounce, and comments came flooding in faster than you can say "twinning."

“Is this Hania Aamir’s twin brother?” quipped one user. Another chimed in, “He looks more like Hania than Hania herself!” The resemblance is undeniable, sparking hilarious and heartfelt reactions alike. Some eagle-eyed fans even noted a touch of Imran Ashraf’s character Bhola in the mix, adding an extra layer of intrigue. “He looks like Imran Ashraf with bangs and dimples.”

While others insisted both comparisons were true, dubbing the Indian guy “a mix version of Imran Ashraf and Hania Aamir.” Indians and Pakistanis alike have united in agreement – this viral sensation could easily pass for Hania’s double. The attached photo showcases their striking similarities, and honestly, it’s hard to tell where Hania ends and her doppelganger begins.

Back in 2021, the Mere Humsafar actor’s fans found a Swedish doppelganger of her. The make-up artist, who goes by the username Shai Hulud on Instagram, looks exactly like the Titli actor, with the resemblance reaching the next level when compared with pictures from the actor’s fringe-sporting days.

A collage of pictures of the two posing for selfies quickly went viral as fans couldn’t help but marvel at the resemblance. The doppelganger was first discovered when a Twitter user shared pictures from the Swedish make-up artist’s Instagram account, captioning it, “Is this Hania Aamir from a parallel universe?!’

Nearly twenty years ago, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire wowed fans for the first time in theatres. Now, with the child actors now adults living out their own separate lives, Rupert Grint and Afshan Azad, who played Ron Weasley and his spurned dance partner, Padma Patil, respectively, delighted fans earlier this week by reconnecting and putting up a reunion photo on Instagram.

Sharing a photo of herself with Grint today along with a throwback photo of their characters standing side by side awkwardly at the Yule Ball, Azad captioned, “Padma & Ron reunited after 20+ years. Oh how parenthood has changed us all.” Referring playfully to how Ron, who held a secret candle for Hermione (Emma Watson) and ended up abandoning Padma at the Yule Ball, Azad added, “PS He’s still not asked me to dance.”

Predictably, Azad’s post sent die-hard Harry Potter fans into a stream of nostalgia-fuelled euphoria, with the comments section rapidly filling up with puns and wholesome comments.

“If he hasn’t asked by now, it will probably never happen. Maybe try one of the Durmstrang boys,” quipped one commenter, referring to the Bulgarian wizarding school featured in Goblet.

“Come on Ron!” urged another fan. “Time for you to be a better date and ask her to the dance floor!”

Yet another delighted fan, overcome with emotion, penned, “This made me tear up – so proud of who both of you have become, and thank you for all the magic you gave us when we were kids.”

Having come a long way from playing the awkward teenage wizard who fumbled his way through his first ball, Grint became a father for the first time in 2020. He has been in a long-term relationship with actor Georgia Groome since 2011, although he strives to keep his personal life under wraps. The couple share one daughter. Meanwhile, according to India Today, Azad married Nabil Kazi in 2018. The couple have one daughter, and Azad is currently expecting their second child.

The Harry Potter franchise may have begun in the early 2000s, but the cast members have kept the friendship alive and remained in touch. In 2022, Rupert Grint, Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, and many others in the cast reunited to celebrate 20 years since the first Potter film hit theatres.

‘Standup Girl’ actor says she has no qualms about beau playing romantic roles

Pakistani actor Zara Noor Abbas has sparked a hot debate after she revealed in a recent interview with Wasi Shah that she has an unexpected wish: to see her husband, Asad Siddiqui, cozying up to Bollywood queens Deepika Padukone and Alia Bhatt on screen. Suffice it to say, her bold statement has raised eyebrows across social media.

During the candid interview where Zara talked all things personal and showbiz, the Badshah Begum actor showed a refreshingly modern take on relationships, shrugging off any qualms about Asad's romantic roles. When asked if she ever puts restrictions on his on-screen chemistry, Zara firmly quipped, “No, no, in fact, more than willing, I pray that my husband scores an intimate scene with Deepika Padukone or Alia Bhatt.”

“I'd be the proud wife cheering him on.” Closing with a dash of wit, Zara emphasised, "It's all part of the job. He knows his boundaries, and honestly, who am I to say how he should go about his work?” Her candid remarks have certainly added spice to the entertainment chatter, leaving fans and critics alike buzzing.

Earlier, Zara made headlines when she divulged her tumultuous relationship with meat in an Eid special television show. “To this day, I have never touched meat,” she confessed on the show. Despite this, she expressed excitement about visiting her parents this Eid. “On both paternal and maternal sides of the family, my parents are the eldest, so the whole family visits us. This is how Eid goes in our family, but I don’t like going to the kitchen on Eid.”

The Standup Girl actor also shared a charming anecdote about her typical kitchen habits, or lack thereof. “Normally too, I don’t frequent the kitchen,” she admitted. “My husband often asks, ‘When are you going to cook something for me?’ But it’s my plan that this Eid, I will cook namkeen gosht for him.” Zara explained that her choice of dish was influenced by her husband's and his brothers' love for meat, making namkeen gosht a perfect fit for the occasion.

“Welcome to my life, gorgeous,” captioned Feroze, receiving an onslaught of congratulations in the comments section from his fans and followers. “Prayers for the new couple,” wrote one fan, whilst another added, “He deserves it after receiving so much hate in the past.”

Feroze and Aliza share a son and a daughter. “Our marriage of four years was utter chaos,” Aliza had written on her IG handle in September 2022 after parting ways with Feroze. “In addition to continuous physical and psychological violence during this period, I had to endure infidelity, blackmail and degradation at my husband’s hands.”

Screenwriter also spoke of star's expectations from his partner

In a resurfaced clip from a 2019 interview with Komal Nahta, Salim Khan, the veteran screenwriter and father of Bollywood superstar Salman Khan, opened up about the reasons behind his son's prolonged bachelorhood. Salim's candid remarks shed light on Salman’s personal life and his reservations about marriage.

During the interview, Salim Khan discussed his son’s hesitation towards marriage, attributing it to a lack of courage. "He easily enters into relationships, but he lacks the courage to get married," said the superstar's father. "He has a very simple nature and gets attracted easily. However, he always wonders whether the woman can manage a family like his mother does."

Salim emphasised the high standards Salman holds for his future wife, drawing a comparison to his own wife and Salman’s mother. He further illustrated that Salman envisions a wife who would be as dedicated to her husband and children as his mother was—a standard that is challenging to meet in today’s times.

Salim elaborated on these expectations, stating, "He wants the woman he marries to be dedicated to her husband and children, just like his mother was. She should cook meals for the children, help them get ready, and ensure their homework is done. However, this is not easy in today’s times.”

These insights into Salman’s personal life offer a rare glimpse into the internal struggles and familial influences that shape his decisions. Known for his illustrious career and numerous relationships, Salman’s bachelor status has always been a topic of intrigue and speculation.

The resurfaced clip has reignited discussions about Salman’s personal life and the societal expectations placed on relationships and marriage. It also underscores the generational gap in perceptions of marriage and the evolving nature of family dynamics in modern times.

Salman continues to be one of Bollywood’s most eligible bachelors, and while fans and media speculate about his personal choices, it’s clear that his decision not to marry stems from deeply held values and expectations influenced by his family background and upbringing.

The actor recalled how his faith allowed him to power through a traumatic illness

In a recent interview on a local outlet with Wasi Shah, television star Saleem Sheikh championed strength of mind in overcoming any challenges as he recalled his battle with a difficult illness nearly three years ago.

“In 2021, I got sick,” remarked the Fairy Tale actor as he mused over the toll his illness took over his body. Casting his mind back to the weight loss that followed and the shock of the changes in his physical appearance, Saleem continued, “It was a very difficult time. I was so depressed. I was physically recovering, but everyone who saw me was really taken aback because I had lost so much weight.”

However, despite the trauma of falling severely ill, Saleem maintained that his strong inherent faith coupled with his ability to maintain his daily routine allowed him to move steadily forward.

“I think if you believe in God and have faith, then everything will get better,” he noted. “You need to be mentally very strong. I tried to stick to my routine as much as I could.” Sheikh added that his philosophy applied to more than just overcoming a physical illness.

“Everyone goes through difficult times,” pointed out the actor. “If you have any problems – it doesn’t have to be physical – you need to be so mentally strong that you can prevail. This is all a test of God, and it is your responsibility to get out of it.”

Saleem, the younger brother of television actor Javed Sheikh, hails from a family of showbiz stars. His brother-in-law Behroze Sabzwari, nephews Shahroz Sabzwari and Shahzad Sheikh, along with niece Momal Sheikh, are all working members of the showbiz industry. Saleem’s TV debut stretches all the way back to 1976, when he played the younger version of his brother’s character in PTV’s Shama. He was most recently seen in Fairy Tale 2 as Pasha Sahib and also had a role in the Eidul Fitr release Daghabaaz Dil.

Actor maintains filmmaker is close to his heart

In the often fickle world of filmmaking, relationships between actors and directors rarely extend beyond the professional realm. Recently, Anurag Kashyap revealed in an interview that celebrity designers had refused to make a suit for Nawazuddin Siddiqui for the 2012 Cannes Directors' Fortnight, where their film "Gangs of Wasseypur" was being screened, due to Siddiqui's appearance.

Reflecting on this, Siddiqui shared his thoughts on Kashyap's significance in his career, spanning over 25 years. Despite the hurt caused by such rejections, Siddiqui expressed gratitude for the recognition of his talent and the love he now receives from audiences. Speaking to Indian Express, he recalled, "Of course, I was hurt that people have that kind of approach to an actor. I felt strange." He emphasised that it was Kashyap who introduced him to a broader platform and opened doors to international acclaim.

The actor acknowledged, "With time people saw my work and started appreciating it. If your work is good, people will appreciate it, thanks to Anurag Kashyap who introduced me to a big platform. When I went to Cannes, there were so many people who had seen my work. A lot of the films that he has directed and I have acted in, have gone to Cannes, so Anurag is a special director for me.”

Despite their limited personal interaction, Siddiqui holds Kashyap in high regard. He recounted their unique dynamic, saying, “Anurag and I are not even friends, frankly speaking. If we sit together we might not even talk to each other for hours. We are like that."

He further shared, "We have flown together, traveled together for 5-6 hours without saying a word, maybe we’ll ask if you have matchsticks, or come, let’s eat something or drink. We only discuss these things. We don’t talk much. But Anurag has a special place in my heart. I always want him to be healthy and make films even if he doesn’t cast me in them. Anurag should always keep making films. Anurag should never have any problems.”

Siddiqui also spoke on Kashyap's resilience during challenging times, mentioning how both he and actor Taapsee Pannu supported Kashyap through his battles with depression and alcohol addiction. Despite their quiet camaraderie, Siddiqui’s respect for Kashyap is profound.

Actor shared some of the troubling experiences she faced during her early years

In a candid and emotional interview with Siddharth Kannan, actor Isha Koppikar shared some of the troubling experiences she faced during her early years in the Bollywood industry. Reflecting on her journey, Isha detailed incidents that underscored the darker side of the entertainment world.

Isha recounted being approached by an A-list actor who suggested a private meeting, a proposal that left her deeply uncomfortable. She recalled: "One actor asked me to meet him alone, without my driver or anyone else, because there were rumours about him being involved with other actresses."

She continued, "He said, ‘There are already controversies about me, and the staff spreads rumours.’ But I refused him and told him that I couldn’t come alone. He was an A-list actor from the Hindi film industry. I must be around 22-23 years old at that time.”

She went on to add, “I was 18 when a secretary and an actor approached me for casting couch. They told me that to get work, you have to be ‘friendly' with actors. I am very friendly, but what does ‘friendly' mean? I am so friendly that Ektaa Kapoor once told me to have some attitude.” Isha further added how many would touch her inappropriately and tell her to be friendly with the heroes in a sleazy manner.

The actor made her Bollywood debut with the 1998 film "Ek Tha Dil Ek Thi Dhadkan" and subsequently appeared in numerous notable films. She also starred alongside Shah Rukh Khan and Priyanka Chopra in "Don."

In 2009, Isha married hotelier Timmy Narang. Their love story began after meeting at a gym, and they knew each other for three years before starting their romantic relationship. The couple welcomed their daughter, Rianna, in July 2014. However, Isha and Timmy decided to part ways earlier this year, as per Hindustan Times.

Actor talks journey from Dubsmash days to becoming national sweetheart

Eid is a time of celebration, family, and heartwarming moments, and this year's special episode of Mazaq Raat brought all these elements together with the presence of Hania Aamir. The vivacious actor, known for her infectious energy and candidness, graced the late-night comedy show, sharing anecdotes from her journey in the entertainment industry, personal stories, and insightful thoughts on love and success.

Hania’s rise to fame is a story of serendipity and sheer talent. When asked about her journey from Dubsmash videos to the silver screen, Hania shared, “Getting my first film was easy because I was only 18 then. At that age, you don’t really understand anything. Everything seems exciting so you keep going with the flow.” Her natural charm and unfiltered expressions on Dubsmash caught the attention of producers, leading to her first film offer - Janaan.

Humble beginnings

Recalling the moment she received the offer, Hania laughed, “When I first got a call from the producers, I was in my room. I went out and told my mother and my friend. I said, ‘I think I just got a film offer for real’ and they all burst out laughing. So I said it can’t be a big role, must be something in the background so they said sure. I used to be in Abbottabad back then.” This moment of disbelief and humour set the tone for her unassuming entry into the world of showbiz.

The conversation took a nostalgic turn when host Imran Ashraf, who shares a history with Hania, mentioned their school days in Abbottabad. “Is this the same Abbottabad?” he asked, sparking laughter between the two. They revealed that they attended the same school, with Hania being Imran’s junior.

The Sang e Mah actor reminisced about her rebellious school days, “I used to study in Islamabad where I would dress up a bit to go to school. Conversely, Abbottabad had simpler people and our school was strict.”

She furthered on, “So I would put on the wrong shoes, hoodie, etc., and go to school every day. For the first couple of days, I was scolded. On the tenth day, they said you should leave for good. So they suspended me for ten days.” Imran, not one to be outdone, shared his own mischievous tale of being suspended for 25 days after sneaking out of the boarding school premises at night.

On love and grief

Despite her rapid rise to stardom, Hania remains grounded. When asked when she felt she had truly become famous, she responded simply, “Never.” This humility is reflected in her approach to both her career and personal life.

Sharing her Eid experience, Hania’s face lit up with joy. “I spent it with my family. My sister and I, we get ready first thing in the morning then greet our mother. We get Eidi then we put forth our requests for what we’d like to eat. My sister has a thing for sweet dishes. I, on the other hand, am more invested in biryani, etc.” Her description painted a picture of a typical Pakistani family, bonding over shared traditions and culinary delights.

In a candid moment, Hania opened up about dealing with heartbreak. “It hurts. At most, someone will do something that you never expected. It comes to you as a shock. Heart hurts a little. Ten or so days you spend crying then you move on. What else is there to do?”

She emphasised the importance of endurance and resilience, adding, “A pain you were caused ten years ago has only as much importance as making you a bit stronger. So when you stumble upon grief, you should only focus on how to cross it. You don’t ignore it, you endure it.”

On the topic of one-sided love, Hania was forthright, “I have never experienced that. It shouldn’t be one-sided. Love should be reciprocated otherwise why should anyone waste their time? You should love yourself to have this confidence. When you think something of yourself. When you don’t respect yourself, you think no one will respect you and that it’s okay even if someone doesn’t reciprocate your love.”

Key to success

If given a superpower to change something about the industry, Hania’s wish was simple yet profound. “If everyone could work with manners, without being cruel. There are many ways to teach someone something but sometimes you say things that hurt people. I would wish for this to happen beyond the industry if such a superpower existed. That important things were said with care and respect, you don’t have to belittle anyone.”

As for her formula for success, Hania shared her philosophy, “There is no formula. Just focus on your work. Where you want to go, what you want to do. Don’t look around you a lot. If someone is doing well in life, be happy for them, don’t resent them. When you work on yourself, you excel. Have a clean heart, good intentions and work hard on yourself.”

Hania’s role in Mere Humsafar has been a significant milestone in her career. Reflecting on its success, she said, “I couldn’t understand anything. Fame and everything, that was happening outside. You don’t change from the inside. You stay the same person. It’s just people around you treating you differently now.”

Her straightforwardness and authenticity have been her strengths. “Showbiz has been easy for me because I have never lied about what I feel. When I felt happy, I posted out of pure joy. When I found something disagreeable, I made sure to communicate that. Whenever I was sad, I told everyone how it was. I have always stayed true to myself.”

Actor reveals she is not much of a cook

In a recent Eid special television show, Pakistani actor Zara Noor Abbas shared delightful insights into her family traditions and personal experiences surrounding Eidul Azha, particularly focusing on her relationship with qurbani meat and her culinary skills.

During the show, Zara disclosed her dietary preferences. "To this day, I have never touched meat," she confessed. Despite this, she expressed excitement about visiting her parents this Eid. "On both paternal and maternal sides of the family, my parents are the eldest, so the whole family visits us. This is how Eid goes in our family, but I don’t like going to the kitchen on Eid."

The Standup Girl actor also shared a charming anecdote about her typical kitchen habits, or lack thereof. "Normally too, I don’t frequent the kitchen," she admitted. "My husband often asks, ‘When are you going to cook something for me?’ But it’s my plan that this Eid, I will cook namkeen gosht for him." Zara explained that her choice of dish was influenced by her husband's and his brothers' love for meat, making namkeen gosht a perfect fit for the occasion.

Earlier in March, Zara took to Instagram with husband Asad Siddiqui to announce the birth of their beloved daughter, whom the happy couple has officially named Noor e Jahan Siddiqui. “Alhamdulillah we announce ourselves as Amma and Abba to the most beautiful baby girl in the world Noor e Jahan Siddiqui. While we are busy going gaga over her, please remember us in your prayers,” wrote the Badshah Begum actor in her reel, which she signed off on behalf of both new parents as “Zara & Asad”.

In just over half an hour, Zara’s post racked up thousands of likes, with fans and followers in the comments section quick to offer their prayers and congratulations. Zara and Asad’s rainbow baby comes after the couple’s harrowing loss of their stillborn Aurangzeb in 2021.

In another emotional post later, the new mommy expressed her gratitude for the support from her fans, friends, and family. The 33-year-old delved into the essence of her postpartum experience, describing it as a transformative journey from “nothingness to everything”.

“It’s just insane. The journey from nothingness to everything. This rush of joy and power. The feeling that I can conquer anything now. The nourishment of empowerment and love,” she remarked in the caption.

Actor passed up Bollywood icon to follow her heart

In a candid and heartwarming episode of the FHM podcast, Pakistani actor Momal Sheikh shared the remarkable story of how she chose love over a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to meet Bollywood superstars, including Shah Rukh Khan. Momal revealed that she was the first to fall in love with her now-husband, Nadir, and even followed him abroad to pursue their romance.

Reflecting on a pivotal moment in her life, Momal recounted how her father, the renowned actor Javed Sheikh, was filming the star-studded song Deewangi from the Bollywood film Om Shanti Om. “Baba was doing Om Shanti Om in India back then and there was that song in the film where all the actors join in. He asked me if I wanted to visit India,” she shared.

However, love led her down a different path. “I was like, on one hand, there’s Shah Rukh Khan and on the other, there’s Nadir. So I decided to catch my Shah Rukh Khan. So I chose to go to London. Shehzad went for the song, however. He got to meet everyone.”

Momal described her journey to London as a "tough romantic journey," full of the kind of dramatic twists one might expect in a Bollywood movie. Upon arriving in London, she discovered that Nadir had already flown to another city, which led to a decisive moment in their relationship.

She remarked, “Getting my Shah Rukh Khan was a tough romantic journey. When I reached London, Nadir had already flown to another city. So I asked to tell me simply whether or not he wants to marry me. He said yes, absolutely. He sent his mother to meet mine. It was all very quick. For me it was all very filmy like Kajol and SRK’s romance.”

Momal's pursuit of love was rewarded with a smooth and swift engagement, despite her initial fears of parental opposition. She humourously compared their romance to the dramatic plots of Bollywood films, but in reality, their families were supportive and accommodating.

“I thought we’d hit the climax when it reaches our parents and they would kick up a storm but nope,” the Razia actor revealed. “They went along with it and it all went so smoothly. The only condition my father-in-law had was that Nadir would get a job first and the proceed with the nuptials. He was a student when we fell in love. Chatt mangni, patt bayah.”

Couple is set to tie the knot on July 12

To absolutely no one's surprise, there is more to report on the lavish pre-wedding celebrations that have lasted longer than some marriages. Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant have once again captivated attention with their second pre-wedding celebration aboard a luxury cruise.

Following their initial festivities in Jamnagar, the couple chose Europe for this grand affair, providing an opportunity for their global family members to join the celebration. In an exclusive interview with Vogue, Radhika shared intricate details of the four-day event, accompanied by stunning photographs.

Radhika expressed that the celebration was a retreat for those who have significantly contributed to their lives. The cruise festivities kicked off with a starry-night-themed event on the first day. Radhika wore an exquisite gown designed by Robert Wun, adorned with a love letter written by Anant when she was 22. This romantic evening was highlighted by a surprise concert from the Backstreet Boys, setting a magical tone for the days to come.

The second day saw the guests exploring the historic city of Rome. Later, a toga party was hosted back on the cruise deck. For this occasion, Radhika donned a custom toga by Grace Ling, a New York-based designer, featuring an aerospace aluminium breastplate. This unique outfit exemplified her modern yet classic style.

On the third day, the celebration moved to Cannes for a glamorous masquerade ball at the Chateau de la Croix des Gardes. Radhika stunned in a custom Versace dress, its blue hues reflecting the mesmerizing waters of the Côte d'Azur. The evening's entertainment included a performance by pop sensation Katy Perry, adding a touch of star-studded glamour to the event.

The final night in Portofino was a picturesque conclusion to the festivities. The main square of this charming Italian village was transformed into an open-air market with vibrant food stalls, creating a festive atmosphere. Radhika wore a rare archival piece from Yves Saint Laurent for Dior, a dress steeped in fashion history. The night reached its zenith with a mesmerizing performance by legendary Italian tenor Andrea Bocelli.

The celebration featured notable attendees including Ananya Panday, Shanaya Kapoor, Karisma Kapoor, Manish Malhotra, Karan Johar, Puneet Malhotra, Orry, and Janhvi Kapoor with her rumoured boyfriend Shikhar Pahariya, as revealed through the photos shared with Vogue.

Following this grand pre-wedding celebration, Radhika and Anant Ambani plan to observe multiple pujas and a traditional sangeet ceremony over the coming weeks. The couple is set to tie the knot on July 12, 2024, in Mumbai, marking the culmination of their opulent and heartfelt pre-wedding festivities.

'Carry On Jatta' actor took to IG to gush over the Pakistani cricketer

Indian actor and model Sonam Bajwa took to her Instagram Story recently to share a video featuring Pakistani cricketer Naseem Shah in an endearing moment with a young fan. The video, which went viral on social media, captures Shah consoling a crying child during what appears to be a meet-and-greet session.

In the clip, the 21-year-old fast bowler can be seen approaching the tearful young fan and offering him an autograph, saying, "Don't cry." In a lighthearted yet thoughtful gesture, Shah further tells the child, "I can also give Babar Azam's autograph," referring to Pakistan's star batter and captain, while signing for the kid.

Huhhhhhh😭😭😭😭😭 pic.twitter.com/qx1KlR9xI9
— غانیہ🕯️🦢 (@ganiasalarr) June 11, 2024

Touched by Shah's compassionate conduct, Bajwa shared the reel on her Instagram Story, declaring it to be "so wholesome and cute," accompanied by a white heart emoji.

The Punjabi actor’s appreciation for the Pakistani cricketer's kindhearted act has garnered attention from fans and media outlets across the border. Shah's sweet interaction with the young fan has been widely praised on social media, with many lauding his down-to-earth nature and ability to connect with his admirers.

The Carry On Jatta actor has made no secret of her admiration for many Pakistani celebs. Joining the top ranks is also Fawad Khan whose charms beguile millions across borders. Earlier this month, Bajwa once again reminded the world of her crush on the Pakistani heartthrob, crowning the star her “forever crush.”

“Any girl will gasp when she hears his name, no?” she proposed in a recent interview when promoting her upcoming film Kudi Haryane Val Di. “Everyone knows he is my all-time crush!” gushed the actor. When asked jokingly by the interviewer if Fawad should be considered Punjab’s son-in-law,” Bajwa laughed, blushed, and protested, “He’ll be so embarrassed to hear that! But I’ve loved him in everything.”

Expanding on his fanbase at home, Fawad has gained a major following in India in the wake of his roles in Kapoor & Sons, Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, and Khoobsurat. Having fully ensnared Bajwa’s heart, Fawad’s loyal following across the border remains strong and true.

Bajwa’s infatuation with Fawad stretches back to 2022 when she confessed to holding a candle for the Zindagi Gulzar Hai star in a conversation with Connect FM Canada. When asked about the stars that stirred something deep within her, Sonam had said cryptically, “That is a mystery. The only person I want to have an affair with is already married.”

Concerns raised by the two actors are symptomatic of a broader dissatisfaction

In the wake of a string of disappointing performances by the Pakistan cricket team, several public figures have voiced their concerns about the team's direction and focus. Actors Fahad Mustafa and Salman Saquib Sheikh a.k.a Mani have joined the chorus of critics, each highlighting different aspects they believe are hindering the team's success.

Joining a recent conversation with Waseem Badami via call on a local network, Fahad did not mince words regarding his views on the current state of the Pakistani cricket team. He specifically questioned the performance of Shadab Khan and suggested that the players might be too distracted by their social media presence and financial gains.

"It's all about money," said a disgruntled Fahad. "They've learned how to make money," he added. Fahad further highlighted, "I'm sorry to say but we seem rather foolish." He went on to propose a radical solution: a two-year break from cricket which could help some of the players refocus on the game and reignite their passion for playing for the country.

His comments reflect a growing concern among fans and analysts who feel that the sport that was once a beacon of pride has snowballed into a politically charged arena with vested interests, and enticing financial gains further muddying murky waters.

Adding another layer to the conversation, Mani took to his Instagram Story to share his thoughts on the team's recent struggles. Mani's critique centred around what he perceives as a psychological issue, specifically the admiration Pakistani players have for Indian athletes and the influence of Indian cinema on Pakistani culture.

"It's time for Pakistan to rethink its strategy! We're obsessed with Indian films and our players idolize Indian athletes," Mani wrote in his Instagram Story. "The issue is psychological. Let's take it to the next level and bring in a mentor like the legendary Mahendra Singh Dhoni to help us finally beat India on the field!"

The concerns raised by the two actors are symptomatic of a broader dissatisfaction among the Pakistani public and cricket fans. The team's recent losses have not only affected their standings but also the morale of their supporters. These critiques highlight a need for introspection within the team and the management.

Clip of veteran star is circulating

A clip of veteran Pakistani actor Meera is making the rounds, where an attempt was seemingly made to humiliate the star. During the segment, Meera shared a quote she found meaningful: "In the hands of life, it’s not important to hold all the good relations but it is more important how good you behave with the relations you hold." Despite the depth of her message, an incessant laugh track continued in the background as she read the quote, evidently attempting to undermine her.

The situation escalated when the host, in an apparent bid to humiliate her further, asked Meera to recite the quote from memory. Meera, maintaining her composure, responded in Urdu, "I haven't learned it by heart, that's why I've written it for you." The host continued to take subtle jabs at her, but Meera gracefully sidestepped the mockery, demonstrating remarkable poise.

Reacting to the incident, actor Sonya Hussyn took to her Instagram Story to defend Meera and criticise the host's behaviour. "She shared something so profound but the host kept mocking her because he didn't have the level of intellect to understand it," chided Sonya. "It's the best example of when people can't reach your level, they'll try to bring you down to theirs. But she smartly ignored him and said that those who need to understand will get it. Just let it go," Sonya wrote further.

This incident has not only put the spotlight on Meera's graceful handling of the situation but also raised important questions about the broader issue of mocking someone's language skills or accent - something the veteran star has often been a target of. In many societies, especially in South Asia, proficiency in English is often unfairly equated with intelligence or social status. This mindset perpetuates a harmful stereotype that undermines the value of other languages and accents.

Meera's dignified response to the host's attempts at mockery serves as a powerful reminder of the importance of respect and empathy in public discourse. Rather than belittling someone for their language skills, it is crucial to appreciate the effort they are making to communicate.

These relationships, often reported by Indian media, have captivated fans on both sides

Love knows no boundaries, and even the turbulent relationship between India and Pakistan hasn't stopped some of the most famous personalities from both nations from finding a match across the border. Over the years, several Indian celebrities have reportedly fallen in love with Pakistani stars from the world of entertainment, sports, and business.

These relationships, often reported by Indian media, have captivated fans on both sides, some culminating in marriage while others, unfortunately, ending. Nevertheless, these stories keep all hopes of Veer-Zara-type scenarios alive.

Sania Mirza and Shoaib Malik

Perhaps the most heartbreaking one on this list, former couple Sania Mirza and Shoaib Malik were the talk of the town when they decided to marry, defying geographical and political barriers. They first met at a restaurant, and soon after, Shoaib attended one of Sania’s tennis matches.

Despite facing numerous controversies and obstacles, they tied the knot on April 12, 2010. The couple welcomed their son, Izhaan Mirza Malik, on October 30, 2018. Recently, Shoaib announced their divorce in January 2024, revealing his marriage to Pakistani actor Sana Javed.

Salman Khan and Somy Ali

Bollywood superstar Salman Khan has had his share of high-profile relationships, but his romance with Pakistani actor Somy Ali was particularly notable. Born in Karachi, Somy moved to India, inspired by her teenage crush on Salman. She starred in several Bollywood films from 1991 to 1998 and dated Salman for eight years before they broke up, allegedly due to his relationship with Aishwarya Rai. Somy has spoken openly about their relationship in various interviews.

Wasim Akram and Sushmita Sen

Former Pakistani cricketer Wasim Akram and Miss Universe Sushmita Sen were once the talk of the town. They met in 2008 on the sets of the reality show Ek Khiladi Ek Haseena. After Wasim’s wife passed away in 2009, he grew closer to Sushmita. There were rumours about them planning to marry, but Sushmita eventually dismissed these as baseless.

Imran Khan and Zeenat Aman, Rekha

In the 1970s, when the Pakistani cricket team toured India, former cricketer and politician Imran Khan fell for Bollywood star Zeenat Aman. Their romance, however, did not last long. Zeenat later married actor Mazhar Khan, and Imran went on to marry thrice. When asked about her relationship with Imran years later, Zeenat brushed it off as a thing of the past.

Imran Khan was also rumoured to have had a romantic relationship with Bollywood diva Rekha. In 1985, reports claimed they were close and planning to marry. However, their relationship never culminated in marriage.

Veena Malik and Ashmit Patel

Pakistani actor Veena Malik made headlines when she starred on Bigg Boss, and a huge part of that was due to Indian actor Ashmit Patel. The duo created a buzz during their stint on the reality show with their chemistry and public displays of affection. However, their relationship fizzled out soon after the show ended.

Imtiaz Ali and Iman Ali

Acclaimed filmmaker Imtiaz Ali found love with Pakistani model and actor Iman Ali after his divorce. They were often spotted together, including a visit to Delhi’s Nizamuddin Dargah. However, their relationship ended after two years.

Reena Roy and Mohsin Khan

Reena Roy married Pakistani cricketer Mohsin Khan in 1983, moving to Karachi. The couple had a daughter named Sanam Khan. Despite Mohsin’s brief foray into Bollywood, their differing views on settling in England led to their separation in the 1990s.

Amrita Rao and Farhan Saeed

Amrita Rao reportedly dated Pakistani musician Farhan Saeed in 2008. They met during the shoot of a music video and developed a strong bond. However, their relationship ended after some time.

Shoaib Akhtar and Sonali Bendre

Former Pakistani cricketer Shoaib Akhtar openly admired Bollywood star Sonali Bendre, even expressing a desire to marry her. He once joked about kidnapping her if she refused his proposal. However, Sonali never responded to his advances and later married filmmaker Goldie Bahl.

Noor Bukhari and Vikram

Pakistani actor Noor Bukhari married Dubai-based Indian businessman Vikram in 2004, but the marriage ended on a sour note. Their public spat became infamous after being aired on a morning show.

Amrita Arora and Usman Afzaal

Bollywood actor Amrita Arora had a serious relationship with Pakistani cricketer Usman Afzaal. Despite their open and public relationship, they eventually parted ways due to the challenges of maintaining a long-distance relationship. Amrita later married businessman Shakeel Ladak.

Zaheer Abbas and Rita Luthra

Former Pakistani cricketer Zaheer Abbas married Rita Luthra after meeting in England. Rita converted to Islam and changed her name to Samina Abbas. Their love story remains a testament to the enduring power of cross-border love.

Sonya Jehan and Vivek Narain

Sonya Jehan, granddaughter of legendary singer Noor Jehan, married Indian banker Vivek Narain in 2005. Initially opposed by their families, they eventually received their blessings. The couple now owns several businesses together and has two children.

To conclude, these stories highlight that love can and often does transcend borders, cultures, and politics, proving that it truly knows no boundaries.

Cricketer has been busy trying to make a point

While Pakistanis were busy reeling from the heartbreak of losing a potentially winnable match against India, cricketer Umar Akmal seemed to have been busy trying to make a point. Taking to Facebook, the Hercules-in-training has, at least in his own reality, silenced naysayers and haters with a few images that, frankly, deserve a partial-nudity trigger warning.

"Attention please," wrote Akmal in the post he shared that has stayed up for at least 40 minutes, indicating that he firmly believes it's a great idea. "This is for those who think I am not fit," he added, alongside a series of pictures of him basking in the glory of his...uh, chiselled body.

https://www.facebook.com/permalink.php?story_fbid=pfbid0ohth38H9XhpnXaQJtokTWjM5Gq7X5hMSurBrnKu3AkxVZRFBWVHHx3o7Dx2Gj8ZKl&id=100012219244295

The images in question are truly something else. In one, Akmal stands with his hands behind his head, pouting to indicate a mix of determination and possibly seduction. There's no way one can be sure. In another image, the cricketer gazes off into the distance while posing for the camera in a nonchalant manner, his hands adamantly on his hips, as if demanding praise.

The comments section of the post is a maze of amusement. For starters, one has a hard time distinguishing between those offering genuine praise and those trying to pull Akmal's leg - not that that can be done, given his strength and overall prowess.

"Better fitness than Babar," says one admirer, chiding the king of Pakistani cricket in the process. Another comment deems Akmal Pakistan's Ronaldo, even though cricket and football share little in common. "Better than the whole Pakistani squad," says a crestfallen fan of the men in green. One comment rudely highlights, "Umar bhai holding his breath for pictures," but once it is seen, it cannot be unseen.

Akmal's dedication to fitness is certainly an appreciable move. His decision to post pictures of his shirtless, sunbathing body to prove a point, though? Perhaps it falls under the realm of being questionable, but really, who's to say for sure?

Reports claim that the duo will get hitched quite soon

In a rather delightful revelation, India Today recently reported that Bollywood actor Sonakshi Sinha is set to marry her long-time partner, Zaheer Iqbal, on June 23, 2024. The highly anticipated wedding will reportedly take place in Mumbai, marking the beginning of the couple’s journey together.

Sonakshi and Zaheer, who have been romantically linked for a considerable time, are ready to formalise their relationship, should whispers in the Indian media be believed. The wedding will be an intimate affair, attended by close friends and family, along with the entire cast of the series Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar, in which Sonakshi plays a pivotal role as the foreboding Fareedan.

The couple's wedding invitation, which has apparently been circulating within the entertainment industry, has been designed to add a creative and Bollywood touch to their special day. Designed to resemble a magazine cover, the invite features the intriguing note, "The rumours are true." Guests are expected to dress in formal attire for the celebrations, which will be held at the popular venue Bastian in Mumbai.

Although Sonakshi and Zaheer have never publicly confirmed their relationship, their frequent appearances together and heartfelt social media interactions have often sparked speculation. Known for their undeniable chemistry, the duo has been seen together at various red-carpet events and has exchanged affectionate birthday wishes on social media, endearing themselves to fans.

Sonakshi and Zaheer's romance reportedly blossomed during the making of "Double XL," where their off-screen camaraderie matched their on-screen partnership. As they prepare to embark on this new chapter, fans eagerly await the union of one of Bollywood’s most underrated and fiercely talented stars.

Even at their lowest, Pakistanis slayed with the memes

A seemingly promising match that many presumed lent itself in favour of Pakistan's potential victory was turned on its head as India's cricket team clinched a nail-biting victory. The team from across the border triumphed by six runs despite a modest total of 119 on a challenging pitch.

A lot happened before, during, and after the match. Naseem Shah gave it his all and was devastated by the end of the match, making his onslaught of fans tear up with him. Jasprit Bumrah made an entire population loathe his existence, whilst becoming a hero for the other half of the divided subcontinent.

As always, though the game was on for a particular amount of time, the attendees, reactions, and aftermath, all made for a viewing just as intriguing as the showdown on the field.

When things were good

There was a time when victory seemed possible and within the Pakistan cricket team's grasp. At this point, resident cricket enthusiast and viral sensation Momin Saqib's seemingly innocent jibes at India did not sting as much as they do in retrospect. His social media is inundated with live commentary and post-match blues.

The camera also managed to spot many famous faces in attendance. Malala Yousafzai was spotted with her husband, and many caught a glimpse of Anushka Sharma as well. Anwar Maqsood was seen cheering on the team, thanks to a video shared by Bilal Maqsood. Humayun Saeed and Hadiqa Kiani were also spotted in attendance.

The memes at this point were also popping. An account titled Digink, a hub of Pakistani pop culture content, released a series of memes that struck a chord at every point during the match. For instance, when things seemed to be in Pakistan's favour, the page posted a screenshot of the viral "sacrifice my whole life for Pakistan" video, captioning it, "Us watching the match right now." This was followed by a hilarious image of "Dil Dil Pakistan." The memes only got sadder as the match proceeded.

When things went South

Once Pakistan began to show signs of edging towards defeat, and when the team finally lost, a lot of people had A LOT to say. Beginning with our local celebrities, Asim Azhar used choice words to convey on X (formerly Twitter) that he was "done," adding a "goodbye forever" for good measure. Singing sensation Hasan Raheem said, "Our team is punishing us for something."

Good bye forever I am done with this shit

Hamari team hamey kis cheez ki saza day rahi hai
— hasan raheem (@hasanraheeem) June 9, 2024

Adnan Siddiqui was not as forgiving with his analysis. "Unbelievable!" he voiced on X. "Gully cricket boys could've done better. You lost an easily winnable game with such a lacklustre performance. This isn't the level of play we expect from you. Time to step up and show some real fight! Utter disappointment," he added.

PR maven Frieha Altaf, while appreciating our bowlers, posted on X, "Congratulations India for winning. A real shame the Pakistan team could not bring it on!" Umair Jaswal, too, shared an image of one of the reviews, saying alongside, "RIP Pakistan cricket."

This and that

There were, of course, other reactions that emerged from the match. One fan, who was frustrated by the excuses made by the team, posted on X, "Can't even blame the bowling today Babar, should we place blame on Malala?"

aaj tou bowling ko kuch nahi bol saktay babar bhai kya kerna hai malala pe daal dain??
— nma (@namaloomafraaad) June 9, 2024

However, a poignant moment was also captured on camera where two players from the opposing teams were seen displaying love and camaraderie. Sharing an image of two opposing players high-fiving each other, one X account wrote, "One is born with love. Hatred is taught."

— Moments & memories (@momentmemori) June 9, 2024

In a hilarious history lesson, another post on X went viral, where an English account posted about being unaware of what "India vs Pakistan" was all about. A legendary reply retorted, "No one else did until you arrived in the subcontinent."

A crestfallen Naseem Shah, who gave it his absolute best and displayed incredible sportsmanship in the final over, was seen in tears after the match. Many fans rushed to chide the team that made the same happen. "You bunch of corrupt thugs, you made my hero cry today," said one fan on X. "Chin up, Naseem. You’re a hero and man of this match. The whole country is behind you," they added.

Another admirer posted an image of a heart - yes, the whole organ - and wrote alongside, "Me outside Naseem Shah’s hotel room." Yet another said, "Naseem Shah and the bowlers, you once again deserved better."

This defeat places Pakistan in a precarious position, necessitating victories in their remaining matches against Canada and Ireland to keep their Super Eights hopes alive. Meanwhile, both the USA and India, with four points each from their two games, will be closely watching Pakistan's progress, ready to capitalize on any slip-ups.

Actor said she would love to star opposite Ali Zafar in a film

While many may regard this with suspicion and disbelief, it does not seem impossible that various talented Pakistani actors have caught the eye of Indian filmmakers. Among many local stars who have shared that they were offered projects from across the border, the charming Sonya Hussyn is the latest.

In an interview with Independent Urdu, Sonya revealed intriguing details about her career choices and her thoughts on dream co-stars. While discussing her preferences for an on-screen hero, she named Ali Zafar as her top choice, praising his charisma.

"I have never given this a thought but I think regarding films, I find Ali Zafar very charming. I think he has that charm of a film hero. There are many contenders for a film hero. Fawad Khan also has a charm but acting-wise, I would prefer Ali Zafar," she said.

However, the conversation took an interesting turn when Sonya shared her experiences with offers from the Indian film industry. She disclosed that she had been approached for three different projects. "I have received three film offers from India. One was a Shakespeare screen adaptation of Measure for Measure. The other was a sequel to some old Santosh Kumar film - I can’t recall its name," she noted.

Among these offers, one stood out particularly—a film with the notorious Bollywood actor Emraan Hashmi. "For that one, I even had a meeting with the relevant people but then the exchange with India stopped altogether," she explained, referencing the halt in collaborations between India and Pakistan following the Uri attack and subsequent ban on Pakistani artists working in India.

Sonya’s openness about these missed opportunities underscores the ongoing challenges faced by artists in the region due to political tensions. Her reflections not only highlight her career aspirations but also shed light on the broader implications of geopolitical issues on the arts and entertainment industry.

Celebrated for her down-to-earth nature, talent, and impeccable style, Sonya has captivated audiences in numerous avatars. Despite her soaring popularity, the actor remains single, leaving fans eagerly curious about her plans for marriage. As a recent guest on Nadia Khan’s show, Sonya dished about her dream wedding and revealed her staunch stance against marrying an actor.

When quizzed on her preference between marrying a businessman or an actor, Sonya’s answer was refreshingly candid: “I would never marry an actor. I think actors are very self-obsessed. I’m an actor, so I think self-obsession should only be in one of us. When you’re so into yourselves, you can’t pay attention to the other person.”

As for any immediate wedding bells, Sonya set the record straight with, “No, nothing at the moment. Everyone tells me that I’ve finished studying, have worked a lot, built a house, and that I should get married now. Maybe I don’t belong to this generation because I feel like men have lost that chivalry and good mannerisms.”

The model and young mother is clear about what she wants in a future relationship

Like many single parents, the twice-married model and television host Fiza Ali has her relationship priorities etched in stone: she will consider a future with another man only when he is ready to accept her daughter Faraal.

“I will get married only when I find someone who accepts my daughter and doesn’t have a problem with me working,” said Fiza in a clip that has been doing the rounds online.

The artist added that she had come close to starting a relationship again several times. “I’ve had many men approach me and send a proposal, and I’ve even had baat pakki, but then those people have turned around and said that Faraal must have no contact with her father,” explained Fiza.

Cutting off contact between father and daughter is not an option for Fiza. Fiza and Fawad may have called it quits, but the couple share custody of their daughter, who, according to Fiza, is often looked after by her paternal grandparents whilst Fiza is working long hours.

Enjoying a cordial relationship with her former in-laws, Fiza added, “I still call his parents Ammi and Abbu. There have been so many times when I’ve been running late from a shoot, so when I pick up Faraal from their house, I ask them to just pack up whatever they’ve had for dinner so I can take it home with me.”

As she has in the past, Fiza openly discussed her struggles before ending her marriage to Fawad. “He never hit me, was never rude to me, and never abused me in any way, but it was very important to him that I socialised everywhere,” she remarked.

Fiza explained that as she hailed from a markedly different family, where mingling with others was kept to a bare minimum, it was difficult for her to adjust to such a radically altered lifestyle, especially when she felt that her contributions to her chosen profession were going unnoticed by her then-husband.

“My stardom and whatever I did at work didn’t matter to him,” she said. “My social presence was the only thing that counted. He wanted me to be visible at every party, and every event. My work was like trash to him.”

Ultimately, after seeing the impact of a life where she was unable to mentally align with her partner, Fiza’s siblings intervened and advised her to end the relationship.

The actor’s sartorial choices prompted a slew of questions from followers

Always game for mixing it up for his fans, veteran actor Naumaan Ijaz took to his Instagram handle to pose in a traditional black outfit leading at least fans to ask if he was intentionally emulating Bollywood star Ranveer Singh, known for his extravagant outfits. Not one to leave his followers hanging, the Dar Si Jaati Hai Sila star quipped back in the comments section, “He follows me, dear.”

With a stack of answers ready in his arsenal to whip out on every occasion, when a fan asked if Ranveer himself had commented on Naumaan’s photo, the legendary actor replied, “Dear, he’s a busy man, why would he?”

An actor committed to engaging with his followers, Naumaan took the time to craft a reply to nearly every comment headed his way. Meanwhile, when not questioning Naumaan’s desire to follow in the footsteps of Bollywood fashion trendsetters such as Ranveer, fans also pondered whether the Kami Reh Gaee star’s black garb was, in fact, a costume for a possible role in a Turkish show.

“No,” replied Naumaan. When pressed for the reason by impatient fans, he elaborated, “They [Turkish producers] don’t want to invest in Pakistani actors.” In another section of the thread, he explained to another fan, "Their budget is too low."

Turkey may not be investing in Pakistani actors, but Naumaan has won the hearts of fans in his most recent appearance in the web series Mrs & Mr Shameem, a show about a couple who doesn’t conform to gender expectations and expectations. Naumaan plays the lead role of Shameem “Shammo” in the series opposite television star Saba Qamar, who plays his wife Umaima “Ummi”.

The show was released in March 2022, and Naumaan’s portrayal of the effeminate Shammo has resonated with the actor’s fans. “Watching Mrs & Mr Shameem, you have absolutely done justice to your role,” gushed one commenter in his post.

The king of Punjabi pop responded to Ahmad’s claims that he is a sinner

As former singer Jawad Ahmad crowned Abrarul Haq a “religious hypocrite” on social media, the Billo De Ghar hitmaker mused that Ahmad’s remarks were most likely prompted by “failure” and “jealousy”.

“This statement – him calling me a sinner and a religious hypocrite – it’s not right, you see,” explained Haq in a recent interview on a digital news platform. “Only Allah has the power to call me a religious hypocrite. I know I’m not, because I always mention Allah in my statements.”

A screenshot of Ahmad’s tweet has been doing the rounds on the internet, although the Express Tribune has been unable to independently verify it. In his interview, Haq, however, was ready with a theory for the reasons behind Ahmad’s slander of his character. “He’s so full of anger now after all his failures, and it all results in this sort of reaction,” explained Haq calmly. “You often see it in people who are jealous, and I pray to Allah to protect me from such people.”

With both artists having been active in the music industry simultaneously during their singing careers, Haq maintained that he had always been the more successful musician. “We used to be competitors, but I’d always end up getting the awards whenever we were running against each other,” remarked Haq. Introducing a note of pity for his accuser, he added “I used to feel sorry for him.”

According to Haq, Ahmad has historically attempted to follow in his footsteps, with limited success, be it in the entertainment industry or the charity sector. “He [Ahmad] used to say that only people who have failed in their professions take up charity workers,” he revealed Haq. “Look at him now. He tried to make his own hospital, but you can see for yourself that it will never work. Back in the day, he would try to make prank calls to my charities, but it never really affected me.”

Both Haq and Ahmad emerged onto the music scene in the late nineties. Similarly, both also transitioned from musicians to politicians. Haq has recently taken a step back from politics. Until the filing of this report, Ahmad has not responded to Haq's comments on his social media platforms.

The Express Tribune spoke exclusively to the star and Hamza Sohail

The sky-high hall welcomes media personalities with a grand poster of Sajal Ali and Hamza Sohail. Entering the area where the event commemorating the launch of Zard Patton Ka Bunn is being held, one is taken aback by opulent chandeliers that welcome one and all. If that isn't dizzying enough as it is, the press wall holds an unlikely sight: Sajal, speaking to reporters, an hour before the beginning of the event.

The stunning superstar is a sight to behold. Clad in a shocking pink sari, with simple makeup and hair cascading down her shoulders, Sajal is ethereal. There is something about the restrained manner in which she answers queries that one can't quite put their finger on - but that's not solely why many have gathered at the venue in the first place.

The leisurely pace at which journalists wait for Sajal to wrap up her interviews swiftly hastens as the time for the event to begin draws close. Between the numerous video interviews and a flurry of people asking her to put on mics, look in certain cameras, and answer a bevvy of questions, Sajal remains exceedingly patient. Eventually, Hamza walks in, dressed in a dapper suit that does little to mask his youthful exuberance.

Talent tango

One cannot help but think about the two stars and their personal experiences working together. "It was amazing," says Sajal exclusively to The Express Tribune with a dazzling smile. "Hamza is very professional. He really helped me as well." Amidst the pressure of working outdoors in the heat and memorising a script's worth of lines, Sajal joyously remarks that Hamza has "always been very supportive." She furthers, "I'm very happy, he's a great addition to our industry."

Hamza, too, is all praises for the actor of whom he is a fan. to begin with. He says: "It was a great experience - one of the best experiences so far In my career and I've said this earlier, I'm a huge, huge fan of hers. I was and still am. It was incredible and very overwhelming. I got to learn a lot."

It is not lost on anyone that the narrative for which all are gathered to celebrate is hard-hitting, touching upon vital and sensitive societal issues. Discussing the same, Sajal remarks, "I think we have to talk about women's education especially. If we want to empower them, then there is education. I think whoever is working on education in our country, there could be no better issue to work on. I'm delighted that I did this project and I feel like I am doing my part in my contribution to society."

Hamza, addressing his previous "green-flag" characters like Fairy Tale's Farjaad and the importance of depicting positive masculinity, adds, "We're promoting a healthy form of masculinity and the need for the same is great too. I think through that, eventually, we can promote healthier relationships as well amongst households." Even so, he does not shy away from pointing out, "However, if we're telling stories, I won't agree with just green-flag characters being shown - they should be there, definitely. But if we're portraying a grey character, that is also essential."

Looking ahead

The conversation shifts to Sajal and Hamza potentially eyeing work in the neighbouring country amidst semblances of a thaw in Bollywood's cold shoulder to Pakistani stars. Sajal, when queried about a dream director she'd like to work with, does not hesitate to single out Imtiaz Ali. In terms of actors, the one name that came to her mind is that of Ranbir Kapoor. Hamza, on the other hand, has a rather suave response. "We have so many great actresses here, the target is to work with them, God-willing," he says with an infectious laugh.

The duo proceeds to divulge into goals that they hope to achieve one day. "I'm very happy with my career, I think I've achieved what I want to and I'm grateful to God," states Sajal. "I feel now I want to work towards women's empowerment and their education. I'd want to make as many schools as possible with great teachers."

Hamza's list differs, albeit only slightly. "I hope to contribute to society in a way where I do some sort of social work," he replies, continuing to share, "I would like to make my family proud, whatever accolades come with that, I don't mind. Finally, I would want to retire with a very great portfolio. I would like to be listed as one of those actors who brought about a change in the industry."

Armed with similar goals and the opportunity to be a part of narratives that push comfortable boundaries of societal norms and aim to break glass ceilings, Hamza and Sajal may well be on their way to achieving their noble milestones.

Rising star wants to take late actor's legacy forward

Taha Shah Badussha, who is victory-lapping his recent success and acclaim for his role in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar, has opened up on being compared to the late actor Sushant Singh Rajput. In a recent interview with Siddharth Kannan, Taha opened up about his memories of Sushant and expressed his desire to honour his legacy.

“I knew Sushant personally," revealed Taha. "I know how it is to come from outside. I would like to take his legacy forward. People have actually messaged me and told me that I am their new Sushant. How awesome is that? Because I know how much love the audience gave him. I just hope to live up to these expectations.”

Recalling his interactions with Sushant, Taha reminisced, "He was a very philosophical and intelligent person. He would talk a lot about books, and I relate to him on that. I didn't spend too much time with him; we talked only at events and parties. When I met him, we talked about NASA. We also talked about ‘Kai Po Che' because I was being considered for Amit Sadh's character in the film, but I ended up not getting it because of the age difference.”

Taha's performance in Heeramandi seems to be a global hit. In his own words from an earlier interview with Film Companion, Taha recounted the overwhelming love he received from fans abroad. “There were some incredible people whom I just met from Malaysia!" he recounted excitedly. "They literally went ballistic! Just before this interview, there was this bunch of girls who went crazy. They were shouting, they weren't saying anything! All of a sudden I looked this way and they were like, 'Tajdar! Tajdar! Tajdar!' After that, they went crazy and they started crying."

Bhansali's opulent web series sees Taha portray Nawab Tajdar Baloch, a role that has significantly boosted his profile. The series boasts an ensemble cast including Manisha Koirala, Sonakshi Sinha, Sanjeeda Shaikh, Aditi Rao Hydari, Richa Chadha, and Sharmin Segal.

Instagram post featured the image of singer's Indian lookalike

Did our very own Ali Sethi secretly run for elections in India? If the internet is to be believed, not only did he partake in Indian elections, but also lost...by a lot.

The celebrated singer himself recently took to Instagram to share a surprising discovery made by one of his eagle-eyed fans. The admirer spotted a politician bearing a striking resemblance to the talented artist, prompting Ali to acknowledge the doppelgänger in a light-hearted post.

The politician in question, whose appearance closely mirrors that of Ali, is noted for having recently lost votes in an election to India’s third-time Prime Minister, Narendra Modi. With his characteristic wit, Ali commented, “Apparently I lost some votes in India,” playfully suggesting the resemblance had electoral consequences.

Ali’s Instagram post featured the image of his lookalike, and he graciously credited the fan who originally brought the uncanny similarity to his attention. The post has since garnered considerable attention from the musician's followers, sparking amusement and further comparisons in the comments section.

"Careful there. Indian channels might use this post to claim 'Pakistan's hand in Indian elections,'" said one fan of the singer. "Now that your Indian citizenship can be proved, when are we having a concert in New Delhi?" asked another excitedly. In a hilarious twist to a popular political slogan, one admirer commented, "Abki baar Sethi sarkar (This time, Sethi's government)."

This humorous interlude comes amid a period of ongoing success for Ali, who continues to captivate audiences with his musical talent. Despite the geographical and political divide, the incident highlights the unexpected connections and moments of levity that can arise in the digital age.

Family house in Peshawar, though steeped in history, is in a dilapidated state

In a recent video by Urdu Point, the alleged family ties of Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan to Peshawar, Pakistan, have come under the spotlight. The video features interviews with Maheen Khan and her brother, also named Shah Rukh Khan, shedding light on their lineage and the connections they maintain with their renowned uncle.

Maheen, a media studies student, reveals that the King of Bollywood is her maternal uncle—her mother’s first cousin. Despite her mother’s passing in 2020, Maheen has taken to TikTok, amassing 4,000 followers, to share stories of her famous uncle and assert their familial bond. Her journey has been met with scepticism, but a collection of family photos supports her claims.

Maheen recounts a memorable chat with Shah Rukh Khan in 2011, albeit through the usage of a personal computer. This was facilitated by her mother's visit to India. She hopes to meet the superstar in person someday, both as her uncle and the global icon he has become.

The family house in Peshawar, steeped in history but in a dilapidated state, cannot undergo renovations due to government regulations. All renovations must be approved and carried out by the government, leaving the family unable to restore the property themselves.

Shah Rukh's alleged nephew, who shares his name with his famous uncle, studies business in Lahore. With a hearty laugh, he acknowledges the coincidence of their shared name, saying that his name was decided before his birth. Despite never having met the global superstar in person, he maintains a warm relationship through regular communication.

Reflecting on their interactions, Shah Rukh notes that his uncle speaks to him with the casual fondness typical of familial bonds. He expresses regret over the political barriers that prevent their visits but remains optimistic about meeting in Dubai in 2025.

He also shares candidly about the superstar’s children, remarking on the contrasting personalities of Shah Rukh Khan's son and daughter. "I talk to the daughter," he says of Suhana, further adding, "his son is a bit moody," for Aryan. The younger Shah Rukh contemplates a career in acting, inspired by his uncle's monumental success, though he remains pragmatic about pursuing business.

Veteran actor addresses son's highly publicised split from 'Sinf e Aahan' actor

In a recent appearance on a morning show, celebrated actors Behroze Sabzwari and Javed Sheikh candidly addressed the divorce between Behroze's son Shahroz Sabzwari and his former wife Syra Yousuf, offering a refreshing perspective on co-parenting and maintaining family ties after a split.

The interview began when Behroze was asked to put his two cents in about love marriages. He replied, “If your kids are wise and they care about their family and its reputation, let them decide for themselves.” The actor insisted, “This whole thing with arranged marriages, I beg your pardon. Lots of love marriages too only last for six months.”

Love or arranged marriage

“We never policed our kids. Shahroz told us that he wanted to marry fifteen days before and we said bismillah. The wedding took place,” Behroze revealed. The veteran star reflected on the end of Shahroz and Syra's seven-year marriage, a union that had initially blossomed from their years as classmates. “For six years, the two studied together. For seven years, the two tried to make it work and I still call Syra my daughter, but they were both incompatible with each other. So no problem,” Behroze stated with a sense of understanding and acceptance.

Despite facing public scrutiny and trolling over the high-profile divorce, Behroze and his wife Safina remained resilient, choosing to focus on their family's well-being. “People trolled a lot and passed lots of comments. I said, 'Let them say as they please.' Safina and I were both patient and grateful throughout the ordeal,” Behroze shared, emphasising the importance of maintaining composure amidst societal pressures.

While the end of a marriage is often perceived as a traumatic event, the couple found solace in Shahroz’s new chapter, with Behroze expressing his admiration for his second daughter-in-law, the model Sadaf Kanwal. “Now the second daughter-in-law we got, I have no words. She is amazing,” he said, highlighting the potential for growth and happiness even after a significant life change.

The Tanhaiyaan actor proudly divulged the close-knit nature of the family, despite the divorce. “Our first granddaughter, Nooreh, she’s our life. Our second granddaughter Zahra was born on Muharram 10 and she’s such a big blessing from God,” Behroze beamed.

Setting an example

Javed, appearing as a guest beside Behroze, stressed how rare it is to see former couples navigating the upbringing of their child with good spirit. “Often, when a girl leaves [after a divorce], she doesn’t want to see her in-laws anymore. There’s also the matter of their daughter and when she wants to meet her father. The mother permits that or not, there are many issues in such situations. But [Syra and Shehroze’s] case is remarkable, from both sides,” he lauded.

The Om Shanti Om actor commended Syra and Shahroz’s approach to co-parenting, offering a rare glimpse into the dynamics of maintaining familial bonds post-divorce. “Hats off to Syra and Sadaf… I came across a picture recently of Syra with her daughter on their Umrah. When they returned, Behroze went to pick them up from the airport even though there's no formal relationship anymore… but their link is so strong,” he shared, applauding the maturity and compassion displayed by all parties involved.

Behroze elaborated on the close bond between Syra and her daughter Nooreh and Zahra, the latter from Shahroz’s second marriage. “The first thing she did when she came out at the airport was pick Zahra up in her arms… Zahra is very attached to Syra, the two spend hours with each other. She calls Syra 'Mimi' just like Nooreh. The credit goes to Sadaf here as well. She has never gotten into the 'your daughter, my daughter' squabble," he said, highlighting the remarkable co-parenting dynamic and the unwavering love shared between a mother and her children, regardless of marital status.

The interview also delved into the sensitive topic of forced marriages, a prevalent issue often shrouded in silence. Javed underscored the importance of consent in Islamic teachings, challenging societal norms that prioritise familial expectations over individual choices. “Marriage should not be forced. Parents often decide that there's this boy and they tell their daughter you're marrying Abdul Qadir. She asks who is Abdul Qadir and the parents say, 'Shut up!' This is all very wrong,” he humourously offered his opinion, his words carrying weight in a society where arranged marriages are still the norm.

Javed further elaborated, “Even in Islam, it's necessary to ask the girl's will. A girl's consent is mandatory, but our people have omitted this chapter from their understanding of religion… Ultimately, the girl and the guy have to live together. They understand much better.”

For the unversed

In March, 2020, Syra and Shahroz announced that their marriage had come to an end due to 'irreconcilable differences'. The estranged couple took to their respective Instagram accounts to share a brief but poignant note, expressing their hopes for the future, their commitment to their daughter, and their expectations from the media and public during this challenging time.

The identical notes read, “Today on account of irreconcilable differences, we have decided to end our marriage. Our only hope at what is a difficult time for each of us, is that both of us can continue to be the best possible parents for our daughter. Therefore, we request both the media and the public to respect our privacy at this difficult time.”

Syra and Shahroz, who tied the knot in 2012, share a daughter named Nooreh, and their primary concern, as stated in their notes, is to ensure her well-being throughout this transition. The announcement came after months of speculation surrounding the couple's marital status, with rumours of their separation surfacing in December 2019.

The tennis star will appear in ‘The Great Indian Kapil Show’ on Netflix

Indian tennis star Sania Mirza, famous less for her prowess on the court than for her former marriage to Pakistani cricketer Shoaib Malik, jokingly declared on Indian television that finding love again is not off the cards for her.

Slated to appear on The Great Indian Kapil show on Netflix, a promo of Sania’s appearance has already been doing the rounds online where Sania drops a little aside about her love life. According to Hindustan Times, the upcoming episode of the show, this time centred around Indian women athletes, will also feature former boxer Mary Kom and badminton player Saina Nehwal.

Host Kapil reminds Sania of Bollywood king Shah Rukh Khan’s generous offer of playing her love interest onscreen should the need ever arise. “I have to find a love interest first!” responds Sania.

Having once been one-half of one of the most famous cross-border power couples of the 2000s, Sania’s love life has unwittingly been under intense scrutiny far more than her tennis achievements. In January this year, Sania officially confirmed her separation from her ex-husband after, seemingly in a vacuum, Shoaib rocked the internet with wedding photos of him and actor Sana Javed. Sania and Shoaib share one son together.

The unwanted attention, particularly in the wake of Shoaib’s shock wedding announcement earlier this year, may well be daunting, but the tennis star does not appear to let it show through on her social media persona, at least. Like her ex-husband, Sania often takes to Instagram to drop hints about her mental well-being, although she keeps details of her personal life under wraps.

Three days ago, Sania posted a photo of herself sitting in contemplation. Accompanying the photo, Sania penned the caption, “No matter what, you always have to show up”, showcasing the mental fortitude of an athlete committed to discipline. Her army of fans showered the comments section with heart emojis and messages about how Sania had been an inspiration to them. One fan took it a step further and, in a show of solidarity, wrote, “You glow different when you leave a toxic man.”

Actor recently addressed an article from a prominent newspaper

Actor Swara Bhasker recently addressed an article from a prominent Hindi newspaper that body-shamed her and suggested her weight gain was the reason she wasn't getting film roles. Sharing a screenshot of the article's tweet on her Instagram Stories, Swara criticised the publication.

She penned, "For those who cannot read the Devanagari script, this is a leading Hindi newspaper handle that thinks it is newsworthy that a recent mom, who birthed a child a few months ago, put on weight! Can someone please explain the physiology of childbirth to the geniuses..." The original tweet claimed that due to her weight gain, Swara is not getting work.

For those not in the know, Swara married politician Fahad Ahmed in January last year, and welcomed their baby girl, Raabiyaa, on September 23, 2023. The article targeting the star's post-pregnancy weight gain and linking it to her professional opportunities raises several significant issues that reflect broader societal problems.

First and foremost, the alleged piece of "news" engages in the unabashed body shaming of a public figure whose body has just gone through a traumatic process. Childbirth may be termed a miracle, but the toll it takes on a new mom physically and mentally is unmatched.

Body shaming in and of itself is a harmful practice that undermines an individual's self-esteem and perpetuates unrealistic beauty standards. For a new mother, such comments are particularly cruel and unjust. Postpartum weight gain is a natural and healthy part of the recovery process after childbirth. Criticising a woman for her body changes after giving birth not only shows a lack of understanding of basic human physiology but also perpetuates harmful stereotypes about women's bodies needing to conform to specific standards at all times.

Let's not steal focus from the fact that the media's focus on Swara's weight rather than her professional achievements or personal experiences reflects a deep-seated misogyny that prioritizes women's appearances over their talents and contributions. This narrative reduces an accomplished actor and new mother to her physical attributes, disregarding her abilities, milestones, and the significant life event she has just experienced. It reinforces the toxic belief that a woman's worth is primarily determined by her looks - a notion that has long plagued various industries, particularly entertainment.

Articles like these can also have a detrimental impact on the mental health of new mothers and women in general. The transition to motherhood is challenging, and new mothers often face immense pressure to "bounce back" to their pre-pregnancy bodies.

Furthermore, linking Swara's weight to her professional opportunities is not only unfounded but also highlights a discriminatory practice within the entertainment industry. The suggestion that a female star's employability is contingent on her physical appearance rather than her talent is deeply problematic. It perpetuates a toxic culture where actresses are judged more harshly and held to unattainable standards, which can limit their career opportunities and hinder their professional growth.

Journalism carries the responsibility of informing and shaping public discourse. Sensationalising a new mother's weight gain fails this responsibility and instead promotes harmful stereotypes and body image issues. Thus, it does not come as a surprise that there is a pressing need for more responsible and respectful journalism that uplifts rather than undermines individuals, particularly women, during vulnerable times such as the postpartum period.

The announcement quickly garnered attention, not just from fans but also from fellow celebrities who took to their social media accounts to express their joy and best wishes for the couple. Actor Imran Ashraf commented, “Many congratulations, brother,” accompanied by a heart emoji.

In the replies section, Azfar Rehman remarked, "Mashallah," in addition to Khan’s sister actor Humaima Malick who left heartfelt comments on her brother's post. "May God save you from evil eye," the Arth actor wrote. Turkish star Celel Al also wished the Pakistani star the best of wishes.

Rumours of Khan’s marriage started swirling when pictures of what appeared to be the couple’s mayoun ceremony went viral on social media late Friday night. The pictures showed a traditional setup with friends and family gathered to celebrate the pre-wedding event. Despite the rumours, Khan remained tight-lipped until his recent post confirmed the news.

The Khumar actor’s marriage comes after his previous highly-publicised marriage with Alizay Sultan, which ended in divorce. The former couple shared a turbulent history, with domestic violence allegations levelled by the Sultan towards Khan.

Supporting her claims, Sultan submitted evidence to the District and Sessions Courts in Karachi East, which included images of bruises allegedly inflicted by Feroze on July 7, 2020, and May 10, 2021. Sultan’s family took her for a medico-legal examination at the Postgraduate Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC), and the medical reports were also submitted to the court. The reports confirmed the presence of bruises on her arms and waist, consistent with her claims of being subjected to physical abuse.

Sultan also made a public announcement on her Instagram account on September 1, 2022, revealing her decision to separate from her ex-husband. In her statement, she described their four-year marriage as chaotic and disclosed experiencing "continuous physical and psychological violence, infidelity, blackmail, and degradation". Sultan expressed her desire to protect her children from growing up in a "toxic household." The former couple tied the knot in March 2018 and share two children, a boy and a girl.

'This Is Me... Live' tour was originally supposed to begin in Orlando, Florida on June 26

Jennifer Lopez said on Friday that her This Is Me... Live summer concert tour has been canceled so she can take time to be with her family. Representatives of Live Nation also announced on Friday that the On the Floor singer needs a break to be with "her children, family and close friends."

Lopez wrote on her website onthejlo.com that she is "completely heartsick and devastated" about letting her fans down. "Please know that I wouldn't do this if I didn't feel that it was absolutely necessary. I promise I will make it up to you and we will all be together again," she added.

The tour cancellation comes amid rampant speculation in the media that her marriage to actor Ben Affleck is on the rocks and may lead to their separation. Lopez had already canceled seven dates of the North American tour in early May. The 54-year-old was going to be performing songs from her recent 2024 album This is Me...Now as a companion to the Amazon MGM documentary of the same name.

Both the album and the documentary were released in February with the album peaking at number 38 on the Billboard album charts. The tour was originally supposed to begin in Orlando, Florida on June 26 and finish on August 17 in New York's Madison Square Garden.

As per reports, Lopez and Affleck are reportedly navigating a challenging period in their marriage, but sources confirm that they remain committed to prioritising their children and family. Despite living apart, the couple recently reunited to attend Affleck's daughter Violet's high school graduation.

The couple has not been photographed together since May 19. However, sources revealed to PEOPLE that Lopez, in particular, is deeply affected by the situation. Despite this, she remains focused on her children and family, a sentiment echoed by Affleck's ex-wife Jennifer Garner, who wishes for his happiness and well-being as a father.

The Indian actor waxed lyrical about her favourite Pakistani star

Bollywood actor Sonam Bajwa once again reminded the world of her crush on heartthrob Fawad Khan, crowning the star her “forever crush” in a recent interview when promoting her upcoming film Kudi Haryane Val Di.

Expanding on his fanbase at home, Fawad has gained a major following in India in the wake of his roles in Kapoor & Sons, Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, and Khoobsurat. Having fully ensnared Sonam’s heart, Fawad’s loyal following across the border remains strong and true.

“Any girl will gasp when she hears his name, no?” she proposed. “Everyone knows he is my all-time crush!” gushed the Carry On Jatta 3 actor. When asked jokingly by the interviewer if Fawad should be considered Punjab’s son-in-law,” Sonam laughed, blushed, and protested, “He’ll be so embarrassed to hear that! But I’ve loved him in everything.”

Sonam’s infatuation with Fawad stretches back to 2022 when she confessed to holding a candle for the Zindagi Gulzar Hai star in a conversation with Connect FM Canada. When asked about the stars that stirred something deep within her, Sonam had said cryptically, “That is a mystery. The only person I want to have an affair with is already married.”

Fawad, the epitome of the perfect man in the eyes of so many of his female fans, has already gone on record to note that he has been in love with his wife, Sadaf since he was 17. Quick to clarify that she was in no way serious, Sonam had added jokingly, “I don’t eye married men. But it's Fawad Khan, so if he wasn't married, I'd make my move!”

Sonam’s upcoming film Kudi Haryane Val Di tells the story of a Punjabi boy who falls in love with a Haryanvi girl and follows his struggles to capture her heart.

Could this case be any more perplexing?

A troubled superstar. A gang out for blood. A relentless pursuit of justice. And... Pakistani weaponry, apparently. While this may seem like the plot of Bollywood's next big flop that lustfully eyes its neighbour's lands, it's actually a new development in the fiasco that is the case of planned attacks on Salman Khan.

As per ANI, the Navi Mumbai Police on Saturday arrested four members of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang for allegedly planning an attack on Bollywood actor Salman Khan's car in Panvel. An FIR was registered against 17 people linked to the case, including Lawrence Bishnoi, Anmol Bishnoi, Sampat Nehra, and Goldy Brar.

But here's the kicker - as per "reports," the accused that were apprehended by the police had a conniving plan to source weapons from Pakistan, attack Salman, and flee to Sri Lanka. And they would have gotten away with it too, if it wasn't for those meddling police officers.

According to Hindustan Times, "The four arrested by the Mumbai Police have been identified as Dhananjay alias Ajay Kashyap, Gaurav Bhatia alias Nahvi, Waspi Khan alias Wasim Chikna and Rizwan Khan alias Javed Khan. The accused had done a recce of Salman Khan's house and farmhouse in order to carry out the attack, the police said. Accused Ajay Kashyap contacted a person named Dogar in Pakistan through a video call and weapons like AK-47s were ordered from the neighbouring country."

This, of course, begs the question: who did Salman piss off to the extent that this person or organisation, allegedly based in Pakistan, was willing to supply weaponry to India? Also - one must take a step back and appreciate the acknowledgement on the part of the accused that bhai, much like his on-screen avatars, is so invincible that imported weaponry is needed to even begin to eradicate his existence.

One can picture it clear as day: a man with a wheatish complexion, prayer cap, and kohl-smudged eyes watches weapons being loaded for their journey across the border to take down the guy who is a thoroughly present, omnipresent, glorified Bigg Boss contestant himself at this point. That train of thought is just about as sound as the solidity of Salman's action sequences in his films.

In Pakistan's defence, there are plenty of people who would sacrifice their own lives for bhai. There is no scarcity when it comes to fans of the actor-cum-dance-cum-fashion-icon. Dare one say it - some would lay their lives for the man. Of course, if bhai is in the driver's seat, that bit becomes optional for his admirers.

Comedian says ‘Neem’ actor is a close friend and jokester herself

Renowned comedian and host Tabish Hashmi, who gained prominence through YouTube show, To Be Honest, recently addressed a brewing controversy during his appearance on Hafiz Ahmed’s podcast. During the podcast, Tabish confronted the backlash over a joke he made about actor Mariyam Nafees.

In February 2024, during a live PSL show, a video clip showed Mariyam, who was co-hosting with Tabish, responding to a question about her favorite PSL team. The actor said, “I like Peshawar Zalmi, then other teams, and Karachi in the last because they don’t perform well.” In response, Tabish suggestively quipped, “Your husband is also from Karachi. Does he also not perform well?”

The double entendre was not lost on the audience who took to the internet to slam the comedian. Mariyam, on the other hand, appeared to take the comment in jest. Tabish buffered his remark by saying, “Your husband is director, of course. Why would he perform?”, prompting the Neem actor to say, “Nice cover.”

The joke, which did not sit well with many, sparked criticism and seemed to be an embarrassing misstep for the comedian. Addressing the issue now on the podcast with Hafiz, Tabish clarified that the joke was intended to be light-hearted and emphasised his close relationship with Mariyam, stating that their mutual banter is a regular part of their dynamic.

Addressing the incident, the TV host clarified his stance on trolling Mariyam during live shows. “I said something to Mariyam Nafees during a live show in jest. I shouldn’t have said that. Mariyam is a very close friend of mine. She’s also very mischievous. We have this banter going. Off-air, I also joke around with her husband. He’s very nice and sweet,” Tabish explained.

He stressed that their personal rapport includes such jokes and that there was no intention to offend. However, he acknowledged that some topics are best avoided on live television. “But that was our personal joke. There are some things that you should not discuss openly, let alone joke about them,” Tabish quoted, expressing his regret and offering an apology.

Having said that, he admitted that in the heat of the moment during the show, jokes can sometimes slip out unintentionally. Despite the chaos, the joke in question was not edited out of the YouTube recording until much later. He expressed his frustration over the inability to prevent such slip-ups entirely.

As per Tabish, he sought to address the joke publicly the following day after the incident. However, Mariyam advised against it, suggesting that it would be better to let the controversy fade away naturally. Despite the comedian’s insistence, Mariyam believed that fueling the fire would only prolong the issue. “But I shouldn’t have made that joke,” Tabish maintained.

Female actors are addressing an age-old dilemma

Celebrities and the paparazzi - or "paps" as Kareena Kapoor Khan infamously labelled them - have always shared a complicated equation. As much as stars need to be clicked for publicity and relevance, it is also true that members of the paparazzi tend to take liberties with what they click.

As per the Indian Express, the conversation around paparazzi behaviour has been reignited in recent weeks as multiple female celebrities have voiced concerns over invasive and inappropriate photography tactics.

A video of Bollywood actor Janhvi Kapoor requesting the paparazzi to avoid capturing her from "wrong angles" went viral, spotlighting the issue once again. Despite her plea, images of her back were widely circulated on social media the next day, raising questions about the ethics of paparazzi practices. Here are some of the actors who have raised their voices against lewd tactics employed by the paps:

Janhvi Kapoor

While the actor has always maintained a friendly rapport with the paparazzi, she recently expressed feeling increasingly self-conscious due to being photographed from unflattering angles. "Some of them have also been incentivised to do these things," she remarked, as reported by Indian Express. "Like they’ll take a normal video of you but in the cover photo, they’ll use the picture with the wrong angle, the ones that look the most sensational because it is clickbait, especially when it is a woman. That’s when you feel not most comfortable."

She furthered, “I can’t even walk confidently because there is a constant commentary going on in my head that ‘bachke rehna galat angle aa sakta hai (be cautious you are being clicked from wrong angles)’. It’s sad, and unfortunate, and I hope better sense prevails. It’s not respectful,”

She also recalled, "There was a phase when I would happily say ‘bye’ without realising why they were asking me to do that. Now I feel how stupid I was. Then there are comments on how I was intentionally trying to show these angles. The judgement around a woman’s clothes, character, and sexuality is so sensitive, it’s exhausting. I hope we can come to a place where the media, the paparazzi are more cognizant of these things.”

Nora Fatehi

Nora Fatehi, another prominent performer, has also spoken out against such practices. In an interview with News18, Nora discussed how photographers often zoom in on her body parts, making her uncomfortable. “I guess they’ve never seen a butt like that before," she said. "It is what it is. The media doesn’t just do it to me but to other female actors also. Maybe they don’t zoom into their butt because it’s not exciting but they zoom into their other body parts unnecessarily. Sometimes, I think that there’s nothing to zoom into, so what are they focusing on?”

Mrunal Thakur

Similarly, Mrunal shared her frustrations, noting how her parents feel uncomfortable seeing inappropriate pictures of her online. In a conversation with iDiva, Mrunal revealed that she had to address the paparazzi about their behaviour directly.

She revealed, "Earlier I was facing this problem until I had a conversation with the paps. I showed one of them the chat that my mother had shared where she had said ‘kiti pan dhaaklele kapde ghaatle tari pan te loka focus tithech kartat (however you dress up, they focus there only)’, that’s what she said in Marathi. So I was like should I stop getting clicked, should I change my route when I see you? And they know the car so we can’t even ignore them.”

Mrunal continued, “But I just told them that I respect your profession and you need to respect me and my identity, my character and who I am because when my relatives and family friends see, it doesn’t leave a good impression, not on me, not on the page it is uploaded on. So, they’ve understood and I am really happy that there are people who are also talking about it, that they are not comfortable with. I don’t know why others don’t talk. Maybe they are okay with that, they can go and pap them that way, not us.”

The other side

The conversation, however, is not one-sided. Veteran paparazzo Yogen Shah has acknowledged the issue and expressed support for celebrities speaking out. Yogen, who has been in the field for over thirty years, emphasised the need for a set of guidelines for paparazzi to follow. “It is not right," he said. "We should know where to draw a line. Just because we have access to the stars and because they are pally with paps on the field, it doesn’t mean we click them disrespectfully.”

The media professional pointed out that while most professional photographers adhere to strict guidelines, the rise of social media and clickbait culture has led to some crossing boundaries. He urged for mutual respect between celebrities and photographers, suggesting that understanding body language and respecting personal space should be a priority.

The ongoing dialogue between celebrities and paparazzi underscores the need for ethical practices in media coverage. As public figures continue to advocate for their right to privacy and respectful treatment, it is hoped that a more balanced and empathetic approach will prevail in the world of celebrity photography.

Sharmin Segal may have tried her best, but these stars would knock it out of the park

Look, we're not supposed to bully and troll people for no reason. That holds true. But, if the individual in question is a nepo baby who has failed to prove their mettle in what can only be called the biggest, grandest OTT series of the year made by THE Sanjay Leela Bhansali? Doesn't really bode well for the rising starlet, does it?

Sharmin Segal may have tried her best to play Alamzeb, which in itself is a concerning display of her talent, but her stone-faced, expressionless demeanour failed to win over audiences. Her flat performance stood out amongst an otherwise solid cast. To add to that, Bhansali himself said he was thinking of casting Pakistani stars in his universe that is set in Lahore. That's why we've compiled a list of seven stars who would have done a better job and, perhaps, made Alamzeb a memorable character:

Sajal Ali

From the shy, covert glances to eyes that inspire poetry - Sajal has it all. The superstar has proven her mettle time and again, and a role like Alamzeb's wouldn't be too far out of her zone of challenge she can take on. With her expressive features, innocent demeanour, and ability to essay the marriage of love and sacrifice, watching Sajal's take on Alamzeb would have been an ethereal experience.

Hania Aamir

While Bhansali may have had a very specific vision for Alamzeb that audiences couldn't fully see due to Sharmin's limitations, Hania could easily step in and take on the character. Much like Sajal, Hania's features radiate the kind of innocence that is essential for a character like Alamzeb's. Hania's bubbly personality and ability to romance not just her co-star but also the camera also make her the perfect candidate. And, let's be honest, it'd be a different kind of challenge for Hania - one that we'd love for her to tackle head-on.

Iqra Aziz

This is another no-brainer. With a vast portfolio of compelling performances, there is nothing Iqra cannot do. Furthermore, watching Iqra transfigure into a courtesan-in-training from Lahore, who must rebel against her own blood, kin, and desire would be a completely different experience. Iqra is an actor who can bring a great deal of nuance and depth to the role that she's playing, and one cannot help but think about how much of a powerhouse performance the star could give, should she have been cast instead.

Sehar Khan

Young, naive, and a bit of an endearing goofball - all these traits that Sehar has essayed in the past would have snowballed into her becoming a more well-rounded and engaging Alamzeb. The rising star has already garnered a cult following due to her character choices, and one would not be mistaken in assuming that Sehar would bring a fresh perspective and take on Alamzeb to the table.

Yumna Zaidi

She's an established superstar, a powerhouse performer, and has a massive following on both sides of the border. Her grasp on essaying diverse roles is steadfast and one can envision how portraying Alamzeb would be yet another feather in her cap. When it comes to giving a believable, mind-boggling performance, Yumna stands unparalleled and it would have been a treat to witness the actor take on this role and add her own flavour to it.

Mawra Hocane

Mawra is no stranger to Bollywood, and it's easy to see how, in the past, she has combated the challenge of taking on characters that test her limits. While Alamzeb would not fully push the star out of her comfort zone, one can imagine how Mawra, with her eyes that hold a world of emotions, could portray the war between love, sacrifice, and rebellion.

Sonya Hussyn

The forever mesmerising star is a force to be reckoned with when it comes to portraying complex characters. While Alamzeb is a poorly written character to begin with, Sharmin does little to salvage the same. Sonya, with her stunning sense of beauty and her ability to breathe life into any average role, would have been the perfect replacement. One can assume, without a shadow of a doubt, that Sonya would do her best to add depth and nuance to her performance.

All in all, while Alamzeb wasn't a brilliantly written character to begin with, it's also true that Bhansali did a huge disservice to his own craft by casting his niece. Nepotism may reign supreme in most industries, but at the end of the day, talent speaks volumes, and these seven stars are filled to the brim with the same.

Recent events have got people speculating

Rumours of a potential divorce between Serbian model Natasa Stankovic and Indian cricketer Hardik Pandya have left fans bewildered, as per reports by Mint and India Today. Fuel to the fire of speculation was added when, on May 25, Natasa shared a cryptic post on social media, featuring an image of Jesus and a sheep.

The model also shared another Instagram Story with an image of traffic signs. She wrote alongside, "Someone is about to get on the streets." This post has been interpreted by many as a hint at new beginnings, further igniting the rumour mill.

Speculation about a possible divorce was prompted after noticing that Natasa and Hardik had not shared pictures of each other on social media for several months. Adding to the buzz was Natasa's conspicuous absence from the Indian Premier League (IPL) matches.

Natasa was also seen posing for the paparazzi recently. When asked about the divorce rumours, she simply smiled and said "thank you." Despite the growing speculation, neither of the two have publicly commented on their relationship in recent times.

Further fueling the rumours are reports suggesting that Natasa might claim 70% of Hardik Pandya's property as part of a legal settlement, should a divorce occur. Many noticed that Natasa recently removed "Pandya" from her Instagram username as well.

Additionally, the absence of recent photos of the couple together and the lack of a birthday post from Hardik to Natasa on March 4 have only added to the speculation. The couple still have photos together with their son, Agastya, on their social media profiles, which adds to the ambiguity.

Actor attributes recent controversy to how internet users strive for clout

In a recent interview with chatshow Meri Saheli, acclaimed actor Faysal Quraishi addressed the controversy surrounding his mother Afshan Quraishi’s statement. The senior actor had expressed regret over not praying for her son to be a good person in addition to being a successful actor. Her comments, however, were taken out of context and misinterpreted by social media users.

As per Faysal, people on social media platforms like Instagram and YouTube twisted his mother’s words to create unnecessary drama. He criticised the tendency of social media users to focus on negative aspects rather than positive ones. “If I speak generally about social media, be it YouTube or Instagram, people need clicks. They need clicks, likes, and traffic. Anything positive is far less likely to garner such attention. People are more attracted to negative things.”

Despite the unwarranted buzz, Faysal advised his mother not to issue any clarification. However, Afshan felt compelled to clarify her statement, which had gone viral after being edited and circulated on social media. She explained that her comments about praying for her son’s success were misunderstood. The Khaie actor shared his reaction when the issue first surfaced, saying, “I was laughing a lot when this first came up. I told my mother that she doesn’t have to give a justification to anyone but she did that anyway.”

He added, “I kept laughing. The way people were trolling me, it was as if they’d never been scolded by their mothers. As if their parents have never been mad at them. It was funny but it’s the reality nowadays that on social media, you can turn anything trivial into something huge by editing it. A small comment can be turned on its head.”

The controversy stemmed from an old interview given by Afshan, which was edited and circulated widely. In the viral clip, she mentioned that while her prayers for her son’s success were answered, she regretted not praying for him to be a good son and a good human being. She also touched on the issue of children leaving their parents in old age homes. Despite the storm in a teacup, Faysal took the incident in stride, highlighting the power of social media to distort reality for attention and clicks.

Veteran actor highlighting impact of her decisions on his career

Veteran actor Javed Sheikh has spoken up about his relationship with Salma Agha, highlighting the impact of her decisions on his career. Whilst in conversation with Metro Live TV, the actor discussed the numerous hits he took in terms of projects because of his marriage.

"I was divorced when I married Salma Agha; it only lasted for three years," said Sheikh. "That, too, is a long story, I will have that episode recorded some other time," he added. Swiftly glossing over events which included fights, he spoke about how Kabir Bedi replaced him as the lead opposite Rekha in Khoon Bhari Maang.

The actor shared, "I was in India doing Khoon Bhari Maang. I was selected as a hero. Rekha was the heroine. I was forcefully stopped, similar to how [I was replaced] by Izhar Qazi in Bangkok Kay Chor I was forcefully stopped and removed, and Kabir Bedi stepped in." He furthered, "I was not greedy. Had I been greedy, I would have done that film and left Salma Agha. But there was no greed, nor was such a thought in my mind."

Lamenting further, the actor recalled, "I was married to Salma Agha and mostly, when she went to India, she asked me to go along with her. I'd be with her, sometimes in Madras, sometimes in Delhi." Sheikh spoke about how, for a film like Bangkok Kay Chor, the unit would be in Bangkok waiting for him, with his arrival scheduled. However, when he would say that he had to leave, he would not be allowed to do so. He said that he would be dismissed, with Salma apparently calling Pakistani films "bakwas." "She made me leave the film," he said. Recollecting other project-based losses, he admitted that he took quite a negative hit because of his turbulent relationship.

The interview offered a rare glimpse into the struggles Sheikh faced behind the scenes, highlighting the sacrifices he made in his professional life due to personal circumstances. Despite the setbacks, Sheikh is one of the most renowned figures in the Pakistani entertainment industry, who has, against the odds, made a sizable splash in Indian cinema as well.

Series has been dubbed a global hit for Netflix

Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar has been a wildly successful foray into the streaming world for filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali. The series has been described by Variety as a "global hit for Netflix" that has seductively swayed its way "to second position on the streamer’s worldwide non-English TV chart." Now, whilst on vacation after wrapping up the intense production process of the show, Bhansali reflects on the reception of what he believes is his magnum opus.

Having spent 350 shooting days across a wide span of three years, Bhansali is finally able to acknowledge the love his craft is receiving on a new platform. “‘Heeramandi’ was my first OTT [streaming] launch and I am blessed with all the love the audiences have given me, my technicians and my actors,” Bhansali told Variety. The coveted director with a keen eye for larger-than-life aesthetics thanked Netflix for "making the series available to audiences across 194 countries."

Reflecting on how different it is to work on an OTT project as opposed to a film, Bhansali remarked, "Unlike a film where immediate feedback comes in the form of box office numbers, it’s very different for a series. The anticipation was filled with excitement and a sense of responsibility, and it was interesting to see that what we were creating was going to be presented to a global audience.”

Terming the reactions "overwhelming and heartwarming," Bhansali continued, "What really stood out for me was that audiences have binge-watched ‘Heeramandi’ and even watched it twice or thrice over at a stretch. It was nice to see the kind of response we have received on social media and the kind of content people are creating around the show from different parts of the world."

It wouldn't be a Bhansali offering if the music didn't captivate and enchant, and this seems to hold true for Heeramandi as well. “The music of the series has struck a chord with audiences which is very rare for an OTT show," said the creative storyteller. "It’s also reassuring to see how people connected with the story, the life of these courtesans and the emotional journeys of the characters, regardless of their cultural background.”

Creatives often work and re-work a project to death, thinking it is never good enough to be put out in the world. Bhansali harbours no such regrets. “There is always a desire to refine and elevate your own work," he reflected. "But looking back at ‘Heeramandi,’ I am happy with what we have achieved,” Bhansali said. “I remember working on the post, editing and re-editing until the very last moment of delivery. But now, when I go back and watch it, I don’t think I would change a thing.”

When Bhansali returns from his holiday, the filmmaker is all set to return to the grand world of films. His next, 'Love & War' is set to star spouses Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt. Vicky Kaushal will join the duo, completing the power trio often seen in Bhansali's offerings. Talking about the same, Bhansali revealed, "It’s a love story that I’m making after a long time. A slightly contemporary work, different from the dances, pillars, architecture, drapes, curtains and jewellery [of 'Heeramandi']. It’s a new language, milieu and ambience for me."

He continued to state, “I needed [it] very much to excite me as a filmmaker to do something new, to speak of a different period, a different set of characters and new circumstances.”

It helps, of course, to have a seasoned cast of megastars, as is usually the case with Bhansali. Talking about the collaboration, Bhansali added, "It’s nice to work with this wonderful cast of Ranbir, Vicky and Alia. It’ll be nice to see how their chemistry works. And [it is] a triangular love story, which has not come in Hindi cinema for a long time. So let’s see how it all shapes up."

600 hospitality staff will be on board

You can expect a lot from the Ambanis, as one would of a family that has, quite literally, everything. You can expect them to have the biggest Bollywood stars serve food at their family functions. You can expect them to casually fly in and host tech billionaires. Did you see a gown at the Met Gala that you liked? Guess what? They bought it.

Now, in yet another mind-boggling display of staggering wealth, Radhika Merchant, the new Ambani daughter-in-law-to-be is set to don a dress designed by out-of-the-box fashion guru Grace Ling. The intricate creation, designed for a space-themed pre-wedding celebration, has captured the attention of fashion enthusiasts worldwide, especially once Instant Bollywood shared images of the outfit, making one wonder how one is supposed to put on the dress in the first place.

As per Business Insider India, "this unique piece is crafted using Aerospace Aluminum Technology and is 3D-carved, drawing inspiration from the concept of a Galactic Princess." Moreover, as per BollywoodShaadis, "although the 3D element shows the use of armoured golden parts of the dress, the designers mentioned that the material is fluid and delicate. Thus, the dress was designed using new-era technology and took 30 artisans to complete it."

Oh, and if you're thinking that all this is the craziest part of the whole ordeal, you would not be farther from the truth. This elaborate outfit is to be paired with the space-themed event, which, as per Business Insider India, is set to unfold as a luxury cruise. "Between May 28 to 30, around 800 guests will be treated to an opulent adventure aboard a luxury cruise liner," reads an excerpt from the publication's report. "The itinerary boasts a picturesque journey from Italy to the South of France, spanning 4,380 kilometres. And in true Ambani style, comfort is paramount – 600 hospitality staff will be on board to ensure every whim is catered to." This, of course, follows an extravagant, widely reported, star-studded three-day affair in Jamnagar, which reportedly cost an astonishing INR12.59 billion.

Grace Ling, a New York-based designer, is known for her innovative and bold creations. Radhika Merchant is among the high-profile Indian clients of the designer, joining the ranks of celebrities like Bhumi Pednekar, who recently wore a daring Grace Ling dress paired with a quirky purse to the GQ Most Influential Young Indians Awards.

Throughout her pre-wedding functions, Radhika dazzled in outfits by some of the world's most prestigious designers. On the first day, she wore a stunning Versace gown reminiscent of the one Blake Lively donned for the 2022 Met Gala. She also showcased exquisite ensembles by celebrated Indian designers such as Tarun Tahiliani and the iconic duo Abu Jani & Sandeep Khosla.

Radhika's pre-wedding party dress, with its futuristic design and advanced craftsmanship, stands as a symbol of the seamless blend of tradition and modernity. The intricate details and the use of cutting-edge technology highlight the evolving landscape of fashion, where innovation meets elegance. As the couple continues their celebrations on a luxurious cruise, Radhika's dress remains a highlight, encapsulating the grandeur and sophistication of their nuptial festivities.

The internet is abuzz with speculation after a video of Bollywood actors Katrina Kaif and Vicky Kaushal strolling through the streets of London went viral. In the video, Katrina is seen wearing loose-fitting clothes, leading fans to speculate that she is expecting her first child with Vicky.

Social media quickly filled with comments and theories about Katrina's apparent pregnancy. Adding fuel to the fire, a recent report by Zoom has claimed that the Merry Christmas actor is indeed pregnant. According to a source quoted by Zoom, Katrina’s pregnancy rumours are not off the mark and if all goes well, Katrina and Vicky will welcome their first child in the UK.

Katrina, who has British roots and owns a home in Hampstead, London, is expected to deliver her baby in the city. The source confirmed, “Yes, she is pregnant. They will welcome their first child in London itself. Vicky is already there with her.” The couple was vacationing in London when the video, showing them walking hand in hand, caught fans' attention.

Observers were quick to note what appeared to be a baby bump on Katrina, spawning the pregnancy rumours. Some social media users even compared her appearance to that of actor Deepika Padukone, who is due to deliver her first child in September 2024, remarking that Katrina looked “more pregnant”.

Despite the growing speculation, it’s worth noting that there have been conflicting reports. As per Hindustan Times, another source mentioned that Katrina is busy with work, casting doubt on the pregnancy claims. However, the latest update from Zoom suggests that fans might soon see a new addition to the Kaif-Kaushal family. As of now, neither Katrina nor Vicky has publicly commented on the rumours, leaving fans eagerly awaiting an official confirmation.
