Singer makes announcement through IG post

Congratulations are in order for Aima Baig and Zain Ahmed. Aima took to Instagram and penned, “Married my best friend last night, Alhumdulillah.” The two have been together since 2024 and made it official in an intimate ceremony in Canada last night.

“It still feels like a dream. It actually happened.” she wrote with a string of ring emojis. “Keep us in your Duas as we begin this new chapter together.” Aima reassured fans that more photos of her as a bride are to come. “Will be uploading our solo pictures eventually, super overwhelmed for now but IA soon.” she said.

https://www.instagram.com/p/DNAm1qDT6da/

Whispers of the pair began to circulate the internet in 2024 and speculation continued to rise after the singer shared several pictures with Zain on Instagram.

On one such occasion, Aima shared an Instagram story with Zain as the two adorned their necks with chains and twin charms. The three heart emojis accompanying the story coupled with the two evidently showing off their matching accessories were, at the very least, indicative of their closeness to each other.

Aima rose to fame through her contribution to the Lahore Se Aagey soundtrack and went on to perform for Coke Studio, as well as collaborating with renowned artists such as Atif Aslam. She has also worked on the music for the film Parey Hut Love.

Zain co-founded Rastah, a Lahore-based streetwear brand, in 2018. The label focuses on sustainable and artisanal fashion, with its products designed, sourced, and crafted by local artisans in Pakistan in limited runs.

Rastah has gained international attention, with features in Vogue and its clothing worn by notable figures such as Justin Bieber, rapper French Montana, and Oscar-winning actor Riz Ahmed.

Ye reportedly called and apologised to the violinist on 'The College Dropout', Miri Ben-Ari, her son revealed

Rapper Kanye West, who goes by the name Ye, has reportedly been offering aplogies in private to Jewish people he has previously worked with, regarding his antisemitic behaviour in the past.

According to an Instagram story posted by Miri Ben-Ari's son, Dorel, Ye personally called the Israeli-American musician, who played the violin parts on the rapper's renowned 2004 album The College Dropout, and apologised.

Ye has been privately apologizing to everyone he’s worked with, especially those who are Jewish, and is removing anything related to “HH”

He recently called and apologized to Miri Ben-Ari, who played all the violins on TCD, as he tries to make things right. pic.twitter.com/8KIK6h8R0V
— FearBuck (@FearedBuck) November 13, 2025

Amid his efforts to make amends, Ye is also reportedly removing all references to the Nazi salute 'Heil Hitler'-inspired song "HH".

Banned on streaming platforms including Spotify and Youtube, the track, replete with Nazi references and praise for Adolf Hitler, attracted worldwide outrage.

Ye's recent antisemitic tirades on X including his 2022 statements praising Hitler and denying the Holocaust also fuelled the backlash, though he retracted his statements.

The comments resulted in major brands like Adidas, Gap, and Balenciaga to cancel their brand partnerships with the rapper's Yeezy.

Additonally, after the song's release, Ye's travel visa for Australia was revoked while his concerts across Europe faced petitions and cancellations.

The rapper later tried to remove the song through copyright strikes and expressed remorse while attributing his behaviour to bipolar disorder.

Currently he is scheduled perform in São Paulo, Brazil on November 29. Ahead of his concert ,however, the São Paulo State Public Prosecutor's Office has reportedly ordered that the rapper's arrest if he performs the controversial song 'Heil Hitler' or utters any pro-Nazi comments during the show.

Earlier, Ye met Rabbi Yoshiyahu Pinto in New York City to apologise for his antisemitic remarks in person.

Ye cannot seem to keep his late friend's name out of his mouth.

Kanye West, now known simply as Ye, has sparked intense conversation once again, this time during a Parti livestream with Sneako over the weekend.

The rapper and fashion icon used Virgil Abloh’s death as a heavy-handed example of what happens to people who, in his view, "steal" from him.

At around the 15-minute mark of the stream, Ye shared, “You know when ns be really mad? It’s when you actually give them something ‘cause they don't want to actually receive, so they want to take it from them. But if you give it to them, it’ll make it really make them feel bad like, ‘Damn.’ And then the best? The blessings are bestowed as I bestow grace on these ns.”

Ye didn’t stop there.

He continued, “And I'm like, man, ns who go against me be dead, bro. Ns who steal from me, bro, look at Virgil, he dead, bro. N****s who steal from me and try to take the king position be dead, bro.”

Doubling down on his statements, he added, “When we say ‘watch the throne,’ it's only one throne. It's only one king, and we know who the king is obviously. Who y'all watching, who y'all care about?”

Just a minute deeper into the conversation, Ye connected Abloh’s appointment as Louis Vuitton’s artistic director in 2018 to personal trauma, along with "dealing with [his] children" and the death of his mother back in 2007.

This is far from the first time Ye has spoken harshly about Virgil Abloh since his passing from a private cancer battle in 2021.

Earlier this year, Ye posted a fiery rant on X (formerly Twitter), where he said, “I LOVE TRAV VIRGIL AND DRAKE DRAKE THE REALEST ONE OF THOSE THREE THOUGH HE NOT FAKE COOL HE’S JUST TALENTED AF AND YES ITS FUCK VIRGIL AND ANY OF THESE OTHER N****S THAT WORKED FOR ME THAN USED ME THEN WENT AGAINST ME I LOVE VIRGIL AND HE USED THAT VERY LOVE TO BEAT NIGERIANS ARE SUPER SMART.”

Ye also out right tweeted, 'F*** Virgil. His tweet sent a shockwave to fans since the two had a long standing friendship.

Earlier this year, West also revealed why he turned on Abloh.

While many fans still mourn Abloh’s contributions to fashion and culture, Ye’s comments are yet another reminder of the complicated legacy between the two former collaborators.

What you eat today can shape your gut and your health for years to come.

When people think of gut health, they usually picture yogurt, kefir, or maybe the occasional probiotic supplement.

But the truth is, maintaining a healthy gut microbiome goes far beyond the usual suspects.

Your gut, home to trillions of bacteria, plays a vital role not only in digestion but also in immunity, mental health, and even skin clarity.

According to a 2022 review published in Nature Reviews Gastroenterology & Hepatology, diverse diets rich in prebiotics, polyphenols, and fermented foods are key to cultivating a thriving microbiome.

If you're looking to support your gut health in a more creative way, here are seven unexpected foods, backed by science, that can make a real difference.

1. Dark Chocolate

Good news for chocolate lovers: dark chocolate (at least 70% cocoa) contains polyphenols that act like fuel for beneficial gut bacteria. Research in Frontiers in Nutrition (2021) shows that cocoa flavonoids help increase populations of Lactobacillus and Bifidobacterium, two crucial "good" bacteria.

2. Seaweed

Popular in Japanese cuisine, edible seaweeds like nori, wakame, and kombu are rich in fibre and unique polysaccharides. Studies, including one in Marine Drugs (2020), show that these fibres serve as excellent prebiotics, feeding beneficial bacteria and even supporting the growth of less common gut microbes.

3. Green Bananas

While ripe bananas are a source of simple sugars, unripe green bananas are packed with resistant starch, a type of fibre that resists digestion and feeds healthy gut bacteria. Clinical research published in The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition (2019) found resistant starch can boost butyrate production, a short-chain fatty acid crucial for colon health.

4. Artichokes

Jerusalem and globe artichokes are among the richest natural sources of inulin, a powerful prebiotic fibre. A study in The British Journal of Nutrition (2016) found that consuming artichoke extract significantly increased Bifidobacteria levels in healthy adults.

5. Miso

This fermented soybean paste is a staple in Japanese cooking and is loaded with probiotics. According to a 2022 paper in Foods, regular consumption of miso can enhance microbiota diversity and reduce markers of inflammation in the gut.

6. Pistachios

These nuts are more than just a snack — they are packed with fibre and polyphenols. A controlled trial published in The Journal of Nutrition (2014) found that participants who ate pistachios daily had significantly higher levels of beneficial gut bacteria compared to those who ate almonds.

7. Pomegranate Seeds

Bursting with antioxidants and fibre, pomegranate seeds (also called arils) have been shown to modulate the gut microbiome positively. A 2021 review in Nutrients found that pomegranate polyphenols can promote the growth of anti-inflammatory bacterial strains and may help repair the gut lining.

Not gonna lie, when Tyla hit the Coachella stage, we thought of Britney too.

Tyla has spoken out after fans drew comparisons between her Coachella outfit and Britney Spears’ iconic 2001 MTV VMAs look.

The Water singer, 23, took the stage during weekend two of the festival on Friday wearing a bold ensemble that quickly sparked discussion online.

Her outfit featured a pair of micro denim shorts adorned with beaded tassel fringe and green feather detailing.

She paired it with a vibrant green bralette top decorated with purple floral accents and a silver body chain draped around her waist and chest. Completing the look, Tyla wore knee-high grey boots in crocodile-embossed material.

Given the styling, fans couldn’t help but note its similarities to Britney Spears’ unforgettable VMAs performance of I’m A Slave 4 U, where the pop star wore a green bralette and dark blue embellished shorts with flowing fabric on the sides plus, famously carried a snake onstage.

That performance has become one of the most referenced looks in pop culture history and remains a top Halloween costume to this day. So, we’re not gonna lie, we thought it was inspired by Britney too.

However, Tyla took to X to shut down the comparisons, writing in response to a now-deleted tweet, “Love her but i just thought the outfit was fly...no inspo.”

When one user accused her of being “a copycat and too full of herself,” Tyla clapped back: “Personally I think you should stfu.”

Despite Tyla’s denial, fans continued to share their takes online.

One tweeted, “girl you a fraud get out of here,” while another suggested, “Your stylist was probably inspired but u thought the outfit was cute.” Others added, “Maybe not you but SOMEONE was inspired!” and “Um it's literally identical tho??” One more chimed in, “Your stylist was definitely Britney inspired lol.”

Another user explained, “That's what inspo 'inspiration' means. You liked the outfit that means you were inspired by it.”

This is not the first time Tyla has addressed comparisons to Britney.

Speaking to Dazed Magazine last year about the Water music video, she said, “Honestly, when people bring up these references, most of the time there was never a reference.” She went on to say, “It's never, 'Make the video look completely like this.' It's getting boring now.”

The perfect blend of intricate detail and seasonal beauty.

Spring is the perfect time to refresh your look, and what better way to do that than with a stunning, floral-inspired mani?

3D flower nail art has been taking the nail world by storm, offering a fun and fresh way to bring some extra flair to your fingertips.

Whether you're heading to a garden party, brunch with friends, or just looking to brighten up your day, these intricate and creative designs add a playful touch to any outfit.

From soft pastel florals to bold, vibrant blooms, 3D flowers give your nails an elevated, textured effect that's sure to turn heads.

So, if you're ready to embrace the season with style, keep reading for 9 of our favorite 3D flower nail designs that are sure to inspire your next spring mani.

1. Feeling Blue

These pink and blue nails are total and utter perfection. Each finger is different, yet together, they look totally cohesive. If we had to choose a fave nail, though, it would have to be the cobalt digit with a 3D flower (of course).

2. Flowers in Bloom

Real flowers may only flourish for a few short days, but nail art flowers will last for weeks. Look closely, and you'll notice how the speckles on these flowers are also on the French tips. Stunning!

3. Short and Vibrant

You can embrace 3D flowers without long, or even medium-length, nails. The vibrant color pairings in this super short set are especially fun.

4. Butter Yellow

What do you get when you combine aura nails with 3D flowers in butter yellow? This glorious masterpiece. The combo of pale and bright yellow is chef's kiss, and the dainty flowers elevate the whole look.

5. Summer Vibes

Yellow is, without a doubt, one of our absolute go-to hues for spring and summer, and we can't get enough of the butter yellow, mustard, and gold blend in this set. The mismatched look includes French tips, 3D flowers, and even a touch of chrome.

6. Pastel Aura

We don't know about you, but this pastel aura mani makes us want to book a trip to Hawaii ASAP. You can try DIY-ing a 3D flower manicure with nail charms, but if you'd prefer builder gel flowers, we suggest taking this photo to your nail tech for inspo.

7. Spring Fling

When we first laid eyes on this spring fling mani, we knew it deserved a spot on our mood board. The pearlescent nails have gorgeous mermaid vibes, but we think the 3D flower is the real star of the show.

8. Textured Floral Frenchy

A classic French nail will never go out of style, but if you want to take yours to the next level, take note from this mani and add some florals. After painting on light pink French tips, grab some white flower decals and pop on some rhinestones for a touch of bling.

9. Chrome Accents

We're firmly Team Chrome. The dusting of gold and pink chrome over these subtle 3D flowers is so unique (and bound to get you compliments left and right).

 Stun in Mugler 'like JENNIE.'

Jennie changed her look for the second weekend of Coachella 2025 but stayed true to her Western-inspired theme.

For her Sunday set, the Blackpink star wore a full Mugler ensemble, showcasing standout archival pieces from the fashion house.

Her outfit centred around a buckled wrap coat dress from Thierry Mugler’s iconic spring 1992 Les Cow-boys collection.

She paired it with striking red vinyl shorts, blending high fashion with rodeo flair.

The Les Cow-boys line was a bold homage to motorcycle and Western culture, featuring statement-making designs such as fringe skirts, cowhide suits, and leather chaps.

Jennie isn’t the first pop icon to tap into the collection’s legacy. Back in 2008, Beyoncé wore a motorcycle-style bustier from Les Cow-boys while promoting her album “I Am…Sasha Fierce.”

Stylist Park Min Hee was behind Jennie’s latest Coachella transformation.

On 11 April, Min Hee had already dressed Jennie in another Western-inspired look for weekend one of the festival.

That ensemble featured a crocodile-embossed jacket and matching bra top from Georges Hobeika’s autumn 2025 collection, completed with custom mini shorts by Cotton Candy LA.

Min Hee has played a pivotal role in shaping Blackpink’s fashion since 2017, including styling the group in custom Mugler during their 2023 Coachella appearance as headliners.

Jennie’s weekend two set included 12 songs, among them fan favourites like “Mantra,” “F.T.S.,” “Like JENNIE,” and a surprise on-stage collaboration with Kali Uchis for “Damn Right.”

Outside of her performances, Jennie continues to represent Chanel globally. Since 2017, she has fronted campaigns for the luxury label, promoting its fashion and beauty lines across the world.

‘Brat’ green is having its Barbie pink moment!

'Brat' green is the loudest colour of the summer! It’s the most trending shade on social media and on the runways right now.

A sentiment analysis conducted by fashion & tech account on Instagram - @databutmakeitfashion

British hyperpop artist Charli XCX released her highly anticipated album ‘Brat’ on June 7th, and it's safe to say that its impact has been monumental. The album's release sparked an entire movement on social media, with fans creating viral dances to songs like ‘Apple’ among other tracks and coining phrases like ‘I'm everywhere, I'm so Julia’ in reference to Julia Fox and how she just happens to be everywhere.

This buzz gave rise to the brat summer, a lifestyle that Charli XCX fans have embraced wholeheartedly.

But what does it mean to be a brat in this context?

Contrary to the image of a spoiled and bratty child throwing tantrums, Charli XCX fans interpret being a brat as indulging in pleasure and shunning societal expectations. It’s about living unapologetically and embracing self-expression.

In the tradition of Bottega Veneta’s Kelly green, Valentino’s PP pink, and Gucci’s Ancora red, Charli XCX has claimed a colour that has permeated modern life.

Is it possible that Zendaya’s press tour wardrobe for Challengers had a hint of brat style? Or Chappell Roan’s Statue of Liberty performance at the Governors Ball? Even the green witch from ‘Wicked’ and the Green Lady of Brooklyn seem to embody this trend.

Brat green has firmly planted itself in the zeitgeist.

L to R: Zendaya, Chappell Roan and the Wicked Witch of the West (from Wicked).

Considering how quickly fashion houses reacted to Barbie pink in 2023, it's likely we will see more of this hue in September. But what makes this particular shade so memorable?

Green is universally associated with growth, wellness, and a peaceful life – but brat green is something different. It looks like mother nature's graphic card malfunctioned, like a printer ran out of blue ink, leaving an excessively yellowish tint. It’s a shade that sits uncomfortably between chartreuse and lime, reminiscent of toxic waste, infographic viruses, synthetic fruit flavours, and plastic astro-turf.

“I wanted to go with an offensive, off-trend shade of green to trigger the idea of something being wrong,” Charli explained in a recent profile with Vogue Singapore. “I’d like for us to question our expectations of pop culture. Why are some things considered good and acceptable, and some things deemed bad? I’m interested in the narratives behind that and I want to provoke people. I’m not doing things to be nice.”

Brat green challenges us to rethink our aesthetic norms and societal standards. Charli XCX's bold choice and the subsequent cultural wave it's created reflect a larger movement towards embracing the unconventional and questioning the status quo.

As brat green continues to dominate our visual culture, it’s a reminder that sometimes the most jarring shades can inspire the most profound reflections. Remember to embrace your brattiness this summer and don’t forget - you’re so Julia! 💚

Get ready to pucker up with the lip balm that's making waves and winning hearts!

Makeup trends are constantly evolving, with each era showcasing its signature looks.

The 2020s are a diverse mix, featuring everything from artistic and dramatic makeup to the minimalist clean girl aesthetic, as well as strawberry makeup, espresso makeup, siren makeup, and the classic full beat.

Amidst these changing trends, one thing has remained constant: the younger generation's unwavering love for lip gloss. This enduring popularity has led to a surge of glossy lip products hitting the market and going viral, as companies compete to outshine one another.

Key players in the lip oil, tint, and gloss arena include Summer Fridays’ Butter Lip Balm, Hailey Bieber's Rhode Skin Peptide Lip Treatment and Tint, Gisou's Lip Oil, Dior's Lip Glow Oil, and Selena Gomez's Soft Pinched Tinted Lip Oil from Rare Beauty.

Recently, the fashion-tech Instagram page @databutmakeitfashion conducted a sentiment analysis, revealing that

Summer Fridays Butter Lip Balm is the standout lip product of the summer.

According to their findings, it is 117% more popular on average compared to the other mentioned lip glosses and balms, securing its place as the must-have lip gloss of the season.

In an Instagram post on Sunday (14th July) @databutmakeitfashion declared the lip gloss of the summer to their 342K followers. Madé Lapuerta (the creator behind the page) stated, "For this one - I pulled hundreds of online posts referencing the different lip gloss products and ran a sentiment analysis to compare the popularity of each!!"

The Summer Fridays lip balm has achieved legendary status on TikTok. With a celebrity fan base that includes Rihanna, you might be sceptical about whether it lives up to the hype. But rest assured, it does. Since its launch in 2020, it has been so successful that it led to the brand’s newest product: the Dream Lip Oil. Before diving into this new offering, let’s explore what makes the original lip balm so exceptional.

The balm features a mask-like formula enriched with conditioning agents like shea and murumuru seed butter, providing a glossy finish in any of its seven tints. “We wanted to create something that was nourishing, not sticky, but still felt balmy and smooth,” explained Summer Fridays founders Marianna Hewitt and Lauren Ireland in an interview with Vogue.

The tints are as impressive as the formulation itself, working beautifully both with lip liners and on their own. Simply put, it’s everything a modern lip product should be, ensuring your lips are enveloped in a glossy sheerness.

With so many lip care options available (think: lipsticks, stains, tints, etc.), you might wonder why choose an oil format. According to Hewitt and Ireland, it’s all about maintaining the effortless vibe that Summer Fridays is famous for. A tinted lip oil is a natural extension of your morning skincare and complexion routine. “Because a lip oil is not quite a lipstick, it still has that lip care-skin care benefit when you're applying it to the skin,” Hewitt explains.

The formula is led by nine plant-based oils, including castor, jojoba, avocado, apricot, grape seed, raspberry, shea, and rosa canina fruit oil. It also includes plant-based collagen, squalane, and vitamin E to lock in moisture, resulting in softer, plumper lips. The texture is particularly noteworthy, feeling uniquely plush and almost satin-like (not glossy!) on the lips, but most importantly—it's weightless, non-sticky, and has a refreshing minty feel. The finish is sheer but buildable, offering versatility.

There are four shades to choose from: Pink Cloud (a rich pink), Soft Mauve (a favourite of Hewitt’s), Blush Dream (a favourite of Ireland’s), and Rosewood Nights (a rosy brown).

The large doe-foot applicator makes it incredibly easy to apply, ensuring a streak-free finish with ease.

You can even apply it without a mirror and trust it will look perfect!

The gross side effects no one’s talking about!

The first half of 2023 saw many red carpets and movie premieres, other than the A-listers attending them, they all had one thing in common - how did Hollywood’s biggest A-listers get so small?

There was tons of chatter and speculation about the potentially questionable methods of achieving such lean physiques.

Celebrity weight loss has been a hot topic, especially after Kim Kardashian's controversial appearance in Marilyn Monroe's iconic dress sourced from Ripley’s Believe It Or Not! at the 2022 Met Gala. Although Kardashian didn’t attribute her weight loss to the drug, the incident seemed to ignite a celebrity weight loss craze.

What is Ozempic?

A significant part of this craze is rumoured to be fueled by Ozempic, a medication for Type II Diabetes, also approved by the FDA for weight loss under the name Wegovy. The active ingredient in both drugs, semaglutide, helps control blood sugar levels and appetite when combined with proper diet and exercise.

Who is using it?

However, despite their effectiveness, these drugs come with harsh side effects, especially when used by those who do not meet the clinical BMI standards for a prescription. A notable side effect, dubbed Ozempic Face by celebrity dermatologist Dr. Paul Jerrod Frank, 'causes the face to sag, look sunken or show premature ageing signs.' This effect has been observed in several celebrities and influencers who have showcased significant weight loss, including Khloe Kardashian, Elon Musk, Oprah Winfrey and Sharon Osbourne.

Oprah has been candid about her use of Ozempic.

Sharon Osbourne before Ozemopic (right, image: KathClick/BigStock) vs After.

Moreover, semaglutide drugs are quite expensive, with a single dose of Ozempic costing upwards of $900 without insurance. This high cost is not the only issue; the recent surge in non-diabetic users has caused a shortage of the drug, leaving many diabetics without their necessary medication. For those with Type II Diabetes, missing their medication can lead to severe health consequences such as heart attacks, infections, obesity, strokes, and even death. Many diabetics have had to switch to less effective medications or ration their Ozempic dosages.

'The Office' actress Mindy Kaling reportedly admitted to using the drug to lose 50 lbs, with rumours swirling on TikTok about her hosting Ozempic parties with elite friends to distribute the medication.

Images: Vogue India (right) & Mindy Kailing's Instagram (left)

However, not all celebrities who have lost weight recently have used Ozempic. Grammy award-winning singer Adele attributes her weight loss to consistent lifestyle changes over several years. Others, like actress and model Julia Fox, have spoken out against the drug, denying its use and condemning its abuse in Hollywood.

Weight loss drugs like Ozempic and Wegovy are gaining popularity among influencers and celebrities, but not without significant drawbacks. Some users report severe gastrointestinal issues, including uncontrollable diarrhoea, which has even led to an embarrassing incident involving a guest at Gwyneth Paltrow's home in The Hamptons. Comedian Amy Schumer admitted to using the drug but stopped due to severe side effects like nausea and vomiting.

How does it work & what happens after?

Ozempic and Wegovy work by mimicking GLP-1, a hormone that slows food passage through the stomach, reducing hunger and cravings. However, clinical trials have shown that these drugs can cause various side effects, such as constipation, diarrhoea, nausea, and abdominal pain. Longer-term concerns include muscle loss, with roughly 40% of weight lost being muscle mass rather than fat, leading to potential health issues like frailty and early death in middle-aged and older individuals. Other rare but serious complications include gallstones, increased heart rate, kidney damage, pancreatitis, and gastroparesis, a condition where the stomach muscles become paralyzed, causing severe digestive problems.

There’s no denying Ozempic and Wegovy offer a quick weight loss solution, the risks and side effects, combined with their impact on the availability of essential medication for diabetics, raise significant concerns. The obsession with achieving a perfect body in Hollywood continues to drive dangerous trends, affecting not just the celebrities but also the healthcare system and those who genuinely need these medications.

Achieving your ideal body in no time? Who wouldn’t be tempted by that? But the consequences are far-reaching. From severe side effects to the ethical implications of medication shortages, the impact of this trend is significant.

Seems like Hollywood’s obsession with the perfect figure will never be satisfied. Not long ago, the Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL) was all the rage, with celebrities flaunting voluptuous curves and sparking a surge in cosmetic procedures. Now, with thinness back in vogue, everyone seems to be reversing their BBLs and turning to Ozempic for rapid weight loss.

It’s a Party in the Front AND Back! The Ultimate Guide to the Jellyfish Haircut & How to Style it

Short hair or long hair? Why not both at the same time?

Animal-inspired haircuts like the wolf, butterfly and octopus cuts are trending, and now the unique jellyfish haircut is making waves in the hairstyling world.

The distinctive style merges the heavily layered shag with the classic bob, resulting in a daring and edgy look that's capturing attention everywhere.

Having a dilemma between wanting to chop off your hair and grow it? Here’s something for you!

What is the Jellyfish Haircut?

Amy Abramite, the creative director and stylist at Maxine Salon in Chicago, describes the jellyfish haircut as an ‘unblended bob with long, disconnected strands that mimic jellyfish tentacles.’

Image: @stanleyman001 on Instagram

Essentially, it's a bi-level haircut that combines varying lengths and styles into one striking and unique look. With shorter pieces or bangs around the face and top and longer layers flowing down the back (the shorter layers typically don't exceed the length of a bob) - making it a versatile and trendy option.

How do you spot a Jellyfish Haircut?

Well, this one is really hard to miss but still - the jellyfish haircut has a distinct appearance, with its combination of short and long layers. It's an avant-garde style that has gained massive popularity on TikTok, amassing nearly 2 billion views.

Sudden surge in interest has led celebrities like Zendaya, Shay Mitchell, and Lizzo to embrace their versions of the jellyfish cut this year.

Lizzo showing off her jellyfish cut on Instagram (@lizzobeeating)

It’s not just a passing trend; it’s a bold statement piece that fits the modern desire for individuality and creativity in hair fashion.

Where does it come from?

The jellyfish haircut isn’t a completely new concept. It draws inspiration from traditional Japanese fashion and anime, particularly the hime cut from the Japanese Heian period. Typically characterised by blunt, bob-length fringes in the front and long tendrils in the back.

Modern interpretations of this style can be seen in popular anime characters such as Yumeko Jabami from Kakegurui, Boa Hancock from One Piece, and Hinata Hyūga from Naruto. These characters embody the unique blend of styles that the jellyfish haircut represents.

Yumeko Jabami from Kakegurui, Boa Hancock from One Piece, and Hinata Hyūga from Naruto

It’s not a Mullet – more like a distant cousin!

Although the jellyfish haircut may bear some resemblance to a mullet, it stands apart as a unique style. It’s more avant-garde, with less hair left long in the back. This gender-neutral style is perfect for those looking to experiment with a short, blunt front while maintaining length in the back. The trend has shown that bold and daring styles are highly favoured, with TikTok proving to be a significant influence on hair fashion trends.

They’re not just cool, they’ve got versatility too

It suits almost every face shape, but we have to be honest, it’s not a low-maintenance option.

Because of its unblended design it creates a weighty look with thin lengths underneath, which adds a unique structure and style to the haircut. It’s a trendy and bold choice but requires a level of commitment. When opting for this style, it’s best to ask your stylist for significant layers around the face with bangs, while keeping the back pieces longer. You can choose a subtle look with softer layers or go for a dramatic effect by cutting a bob and leaving longer pieces at the back.

Image: @littlechicaboo on Instagram

However, once you’re committed to it and 100% locked in, maintaining it won’t seem like such a chore anymore, it's relatively straightforward.

Regular trims to clean up the front and sides are essential, while the longer back layers can grow out as desired

Bonus! If you decide to move on from this trend, transitioning back to a classic bob is simple. Just trim the longer tendrils, and you’ll have a more traditional look.

Think butterfly wings—this cut is all about big volume and lots of bounce.

Layered haircuts are having a moment right now, from ‘70s shags to ‘90s blowouts.

What is a Butterfly Haircut?

The butterfly haircut is a new take that’s buzzing on social media. Unlike standard layered cuts, the butterfly haircut features soft, cascading layers that add volume and movement, resembling butterfly wings. It's versatile and works with any hair type or length.

A butterfly haircut blends short and long layers to create dimension, movement, and volume in your hair. The shorter, airy layers frame your face around the chin, enhancing your features and even slimming down a round face. The longer layers cascade below the shoulders, maintaining the illusion of long hair. This mix of layers gives you the fullness of a shorter style without losing length. It also helps to shed excess weight and remove damaged ends, leaving you with a bouncy, voluminous look that holds its shape beautifully.

Here’s your guide to the butterfly haircut and how to style it.

Types of Butterfly Haircuts

Think the butterfly haircut is just for long hair? Think again. This trendy style can be adapted to suit all hair types, textures, and lengths with the right adjustments. Whether you have short, medium, or long hair, the butterfly haircut can give you that coveted volume and movement. With tailored layering techniques, anyone can rock this versatile and flattering look.

	Short Butterfly Haircut

Image: @johanaglam_

If your short hair lacks volume, a butterfly haircut can create the illusion of fullness. For added texture, consider incorporating choppy bangs for a shaggy, layered look.

	Mid-Length Butterfly Haircut

Image: @hair.by.gabby.g

For those who prefer low-maintenance styling, a mid-length butterfly haircut offers longer, face-framing layers. This style is perfect for easy air-drying and simple upkeep.

	Butterfly Haircut with Side Bangs

Image: @ziquesalonspa

We know Gen Z has cancelled the side part, but if you still love a good side part - here’s something for you. The butterfly cut doesn’t require a middle part. If you like side-swept bangs, let your stylist know. Side-swept bangs can soften angular face shapes and blend beautifully with the fluffy butterfly layers.

	Curly Butterfly Haircut

Butterfly layers aren’t just for straight hair. With the right approach, this cut works for any hair texture. For curly hair, a long butterfly haircut can make your mane more manageable while adding shape. Ask your stylist for long, internal layers to remove weight while keeping your curls looking uniform in length.

Ways to Style Your Cut

A butterfly haircut offers several styling options, depending on your desired look. While some styles may require heat tools for those voluminous, sweeping layers, there are also plenty of heatless methods to achieve a chic finish. Here are three different ways to style your butterfly layers.

	Blowout for Volume

To achieve a sleek and polished look, start by applying a heat protectant to your damp hair. Then, use a round brush and blow-dryer to dry your hair in sections. Lift each section at the roots to create volume, and for added texture, flick the ends of your hair outwards with the brush as you dry. To enhance the volume further, apply a volumizing mousse before blow-drying, ensuring each section gets the lift and body needed for those sweeping, voluminous layers

	Curling Iron

To style your butterfly haircut with a curling iron, start by applying a heat protectant to your dry hair and section it into manageable pieces. Use a medium-sized curling iron to wrap small sections of hair around the barrel, holding each for a few seconds before releasing. Alternate the direction of the curls for a more natural look. Once all sections are curled, gently run your fingers through your hair to loosen the curls and create a soft, tousled effect. Finish with a light-hold hairspray to keep the curls in place without weighing them down.

	Leave-in Curl Enhancer

Lucky for our curly haired girls - they can go heat free! You can boost your curls with a leave-in curl activator. Apply the product to your damp hair, gently scrunching to define the curls. Let your hair air dry or use a diffuser on a low heat setting to preserve the curl shape, giving you a beautiful, bouncy finish.

The butterfly haircut is a versatile choice that can give you a fresh and stylish look. Whether you go for a smooth, polished finish or a more textured, airy style, the butterfly cut offers plenty of options. With the right styling tips and a bit of creativity, you can easily achieve a stunning look that stands out. Ready for a change? Try the butterfly haircut and enjoy the compliments that come your way!

Opposition plundered nation's wealth and built assets worth billions of rupees in foreign countries, says Shibli

The entire nation, including all opposition parties, is united against the budget 2000-21 which was recently presented by the PTI-led government, said Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari on Sunday.

He was addressing a joint press conference after an all-party conference of opposition parties in Islamabad. "All opposition parties have unanimously rejected this budget and the economic policies of this government due to which entire nation has become united against the government."

Bilawal said the recent hike in the prices of petroleum products exposed the real hypocritic face of the government. "This [PTI] government is turning the every crisis into catastrophe be it Covid-19, wheat or petrol."

Bilawal, Shehbaz reject federal budget

The PPP chairman said Prime Minister Imran Khan is endangering the "health and economy" of the country.

Speaking alongside Bilawal, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) senior leader Khawaja Asif said that PM Imran has become an national liability for the country and getting rid of him is the need of the hour.

"The more he [PM] remains in power the more damage he will cause to the country," he said, adding that all opposition parties will fight the government at all forums.

The PML-N leader reiterated that only fresh elections can resolve the crises of the country. "This Covid-19 pandemic has shattered all hopes for the revival of economy which was already in tatters."

‘Playing politics’

Reacting on the Bilawal-Asif presser, Information Minister Shibli Faraz said the opposition parties are only busy in playing politics and not interested in resolving the issues being faced by the people.

Shibli was addressing a news conference flanked by Industries Minister Hammad Azhar and Communication Minister Murad Saeed in Islamabad.

"They plundered the nation's wealth and built assets worth billions of rupees in foreign countries. These are the people who want to impose lockdown in the country because they don’t care about the masses," he said.

The information minister said that Prime Minister Imran Khan dealt with Covid-19 crisis with determination and clarity and restored the country's pride at global level. "..this is the reason they [opposition] is critising the government because they cannot bear it."

Hammad Azhar said the government did not impose any new taxes in the Budget 2000-21 rather it reduced or abolished some of the taxes.

The PTI-led government, he said, took "unprecedented steps" to provide relief to the business community and marginalised segment of the society during the Covid-19 crisis.

Changes oil price revision formula without approval from relevant forum

The government’s decision to raise prices of petroleum products has triggered a negative reaction from the masses and opposition parties. The move to massively hike prices overnight has also raised several questions.

Petroleum prices are linked with import prices of Pakistan State Oil (PSO) cargoes. However, the government has changed the oil pricing formula without approval from the competent forum. Secondly, the government has been following the monthly oil price revision mechanism with approval of the competent forum. However, this time petroleum prices have been increased before the end of month.

The Petroleum Division had been earlier trying to switch to fortnightly oil price reviews instead of monthly revisions. In that regard, it had sent a summary to the Economic Coordination Committee, which was not approved.

Special Assistant to Prime Minister (SAPM) on Petroleum Nadeem Babar said at a press conference that petroleum prices had been increased for 35 days. He said the government raised prices on June 26 as it would have to increase the price of petrol by Rs32 per litre on July 1. He, however, said oil companies would suffer losses in July.

The summary for petroleum price revision has always been routed through the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (Ogra). PSO forwards its import prices to the regulator, which verifies the statistics and then sends a summary to the Petroleum Division.

This time, the Finance Division prepared a summary and sent to the Petroleum Division, which was contrary to the set mechanism.

Now, the question is whether these figures had been verified by Ogra or not. The regulator also notifies the inland freight equalisation margin (IFEM), which is an important part of the oil pricing mechanism. A Petroleum Division spokesperson told The Express Tribune that prices were verified by Ogra on June 24 and reconciled with figures of the Petroleum Division, which were sent to the Ministry of Finance on June 25 with an update of the 25th day.

“On Friday, Ogra and the Petroleum Division again verified the figures before conveying prices to PSO and the oil industry. There was no violation but work was done expeditiously due to urgency in order to avoid dryout,” he added.

Federal Minister for Petroleum Omar Ayub on Saturday said the government was working to install an online tracking system to monitor sales and stocks of OMCs to check hoarding. He said the system would be managed by Ogra.

He said sales of petrol increased 92% in the first 10 days of June despite the lockdown and movement was slow, adding that there were 500 illegal licences of retail outlets and the government was going to take action against them.

He said the government had asked OMCs to provide a list of their licensed retail outlets and illegal pumps would be closed. The minister said petrol prices rose a sharp 112% but the government gave relief to the public by only raising the price by 25%. Addressing the press conference with the SAPM on petroleum, he said petroleum prices in Pakistan were the lowest in Asia.

The energy minister said on PM’s directive, the duration for petrol price revision has now been set at 35 days. “We are fighting with the mafia and hoarders,” he remarked. Meanwhile, Babar said before February 28, the price of petrol was Rs116.60 per litre. In May, PSO bought petrol at $21 a barrel, but in June that rose to $44.

Increase in taxes

Experts call it an unwise decision, which will spark a backlash. They say the government should have staggered the impact as it had a big room in the petroleum development levy for adjustment. At present, the government is charging Rs30 per litre each in petroleum development levy on petrol and high-speed diesel, which is at the highest level.

However, the government did not touch the levy and reduced the import price of petrol and diesel, which the oil industry says will add to its miseries. At present, the government is charging Rs44.5 per litre in taxes on petrol, which includes petroleum levy of Rs30 per litre and general sales tax (GST) of Rs14.5 per litre.

The Supreme Court has admitted the Sindh government 's plea and fixed the urgent hearing of American journalist Daniel Pearl murder case on Monday.

The provincial government had challenged the Sindh High Court (SHC) verdict wherein it had commuted the death sentence of Ahmed Omar Saeed Sheikh – the man convicted of kidnapping and murdering Wall Street Journal journalist in 2002 – to a seven-year sentence.

The SHC had also acquitted three other accused namely Fahad Naseem, Sheikh Adil and Salman Saqib, who had been awarded life imprisonment in the case by an Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) in Karachi.

Hours after their acquittal, the provincial government ordered three months detention of four accused, which is due to expire on July 2.

Later, the Sindh government and slain journalist's parents approached the apex court against the SHC verdict.

However, three judge special bench of the top court led by Justice Mushir Alam on June 1 refused to suspend SHC judgement and adjourned the hearing until summer vacations.

SC rejects Sindh govt’s plea to suspend SHC verdict in Daniel Pearl case

Now, the Sindh prosecutor general has moved an application for early hearing of the case given the sensitivity of the matter.

"The respondent and co-respondents have terrorised people in a horrific way with deprived indifference to human suffering, slaughtering brutally a US citizen on one hand and have also degraded and defamed stated of Pakistan globally," the plea read.

It is also stated that the accused in the case did not deserve any mercy and should be dealt in accordance with law.

The advocate general also cautioned in the application that "there is serious apprehension of act of terrorism" if the accused are released from the custody after the expiry of detention period.

A three-judge bench headed by Justice Mushir Alam will take up the provincial government's petition for early hearing tomorrow (Monday).

The Sindh prosecutor general and senior lawyer Farooq H Naek are expected to appear before the bench to represent the Sindh government.

Daniel Pearl, 38, was doing research on religious extremism in Karachi when he was abducted in January 2002. A graphic video showing his decapitation was delivered to the US consulate a month later. Subsequently, Omar Sheikh was arrested in 2002 and sentenced to death by the trial court.

This is the 9th Indian quadcopter shot down by Pakistan Army troops this year, says ISPR

The Pakistan Army on Sunday shot down another Indian spy drone that intruded into the country’s airspace along the Line of Control (LoC), the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said.

"#PakistanArmy troops shot down an Indian spying #quadcopter in Hot Spring Sector along LOC," the ISPR tweeted.

The military's media wing said that the quadcopter had intruded 850 metres on the Pakistan's territory along the de fecto border between the two nuclear armed states.

"The quadcopter had intruded 850 meters on Pakistan’s side of the #LOC. This is 9th Indian quadcopter shot down by Pakistan Army troops this year," it added.

This is the fourth Indian spy drone the Pakistan forces have intercepted since May this year.

Indian truce violations along the LoC have witnessed a surge since the abrogation of constitutional status of Indian Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IOJ&K) in August last year.

Earlier this month, DG ISPR Major General Iftikhar had warned that India was planning a false flag operation against Pakistan and the results of any misadventure would be “beyond anyone’s control” and would be responded with full force.

He had also said that the situation along LoC is worrisome and India had violated the ceasefire agreement many times during recent times.

PML-Q spokesperson says party will cast its votes in favour of government for budget 2020-21

The Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) announced on Sunday that it would not be attending the dinner at Prime Minister Imran Khan's residence Bani Gala, following Balochistan National Party-Mengal's (BNP-M) rejection a day ago.

PM Imran has invited the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and its coalition parties' lawmakers to Bani Gala for a dinner, where he is expected to take the MNAs in confidence regarding government policies.

The purpose of the dinner is to ensure the presence of MNAs of the ruling party and its allies in the National Assembly where PTI's budget 2020-21 is pending approval, claim sources.

The PM is also expected to discuss the government's strategy for the approval of the budget.

Besides, sources say, PM Imran will also address the concerns and grievances of miffed allies of the ruling party.

The PML-Q is an ally of the government but will not be attending the dinner, maintained the coalition party in its rejection of PM Imran's invitation.

The PML-Q spokesperson confirmed that the federal government contacted the party leadership and invited them to the dinner. However, said the spokesperson, the party leaders will not be attending due to their busy schedules.

Nonetheless, according to the spokesperson, the party will be voting for the government's side of the aisle for budget 2020-21.

The PTI-led government has been facing the ire of lawmakers currently due to its decision of a record hike of 26 per cent in the prices of all petroleum products.

Earlier, the Balochistan National Party-Mengal (BNP-M) also announced its refusal to attend the dinner at Bani Gala.

BNP-M President Sardar Akhtar Mengal said that the dinner is for allies of the ruling party, and his party is no longer an ally so they won't be attending.

Meanwhile, on Saturday, Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairperson Bilawal Bhutto Zardari telephoned Mengal to discuss the current political situation in the country.

Both the leaders reportedly agreed on a joint strategy for the upcoming year’s fiscal budget.

BNP-M announced its decision to quit the PTI-led coalition government at the Centre on June 17, saying that the government failed to keep its end of the bargain.

The party has four votes in the National Assembly and one in the Senate.

During his announcement on the floor of the National Assembly, Mengal pointed out that his party had signed two agreements with the PTI - the first one when the government was formed after the general elections in 2018 and the other at the time of the presidential elections.

However, he regretted, the federal government had failed to implement even a single point of the agreements, chief among which was the recovery of missing persons.

Mengal lambasted the federal government for not taking any serious measures about the deteriorating law and order situation in Balochistan, lack of development projects, the National Finance Commission (NFC) Award, and on several other issues, as well as Covid-19 response.

Rifts have also been reported among other allies and the PTI, as well as within the ruling party itself.

As it stands

The number of National Assembly members from the leading party and coalition partners reduced to 180 after BNP-M parted ways with PTI.

PTI has 156, Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) has seven, PML-Q has five while the Grand Democratic Alliance (GDA) has three members. Two independent members, while one from each, AML and JWP are part of the government alliance as well.

The opposition has 157 members with 84 from Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), 55 from the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), 15 members from the Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal (MMA), one from Awami National Party, and two independent members, who are also a part of the opposition alliance.

According to parliamentary sources, four members from Akhtar Mengal’s party who have parted ways from the government alliance have not yet announced becoming a part of the opposition alliance. They remain on independent benches.

With the inclusion of BNP in the opposition alliance, seats of the opposition party will jump to 161.
