The Writers’ Cafe of Pakistan Academy of Letters (PAL) held a session with famous Urdu poet and columnist Muhammad Izharul Haq on Friday, said a press release.
PAL Chairman Dr Muhammad Qasim Bughio introduced Haq during the session ‘Meet a writer over a cup of tea’ and shed light on his contribution, work and personality.
Haq said poetry always remained his foremost priority but contemporary Pakistani society cannot be changed merely on basis of producing poetry. That is why, since long, I have started writing columns side by side, he said.
He added that he considered himself the most fortunate person to have been born in a family that is considered custodian of traditional literary heritage.
He said he learned Persian from his grandfather, which played a crucial role in polishing his creative abilities afterwards.
Apart from the twin cities, writers and intellectuals also came from Taxila, Abottabad, Lahore and Peshawar.
