PESHAWAR: Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) claimed on Friday to have arrested two suspected terrorists from Mardan who were allegedly involved in a number of terrorist activities, including extorting money and attack on polio teams.

According to a press release, the suspects were identified as Feroz Shah, son of Said Mohammad, belonging to Takht Abad Peshawar and Mati Ullah son of Abdul Wakeel.

The police also recovered two suicide jackets and electric goods from their possession.

The suspects were arrested from Swabi Road, Mardan and were later shifted to an unknown place for further investigation.

Earlier in March, three people, including two lady health workers, were killed when unidentified assailants opened fire at a polio team near an Afghan refugee camp on the outskirts of Mansehra city.

The deceased also included a police constable. The second woman polio worker who was injured succumbed to her injuries later.

“The two-member team was administering polio drops in an Afghan refugee camp and its surrounding areas when two gunmen opened fire on them, killing one lady worker and a policeman and wounding another lady worker and a passer-by,” DPO Muhammad Ejaz Khan had said.
