Besides instituting effective legal regimes, women themselves should also play their part in this regard
GUJRANWALA: November 25 was recently observed as International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Woman. While such days are observed the world over, no effective strategies and laws are brought into regulation to stop violence against women. Therefore, everyone has to stand united for this cause.
Women play an invaluable role in any society’s progress. But there are still societies where they face all sorts of discrimination. Besides instituting effective legal regimes to mend this state of affairs, women themselves should also play their part in this regard. They must stand up against violence and fight for their rights. It is said that ‘violence is the last refuge of the incompetent’. Even in the modern world, women have to face many problems during the performance of their daily activities, such as driving. They continue to be harassed, threatened and treated inhumanely.
