A San Fransisco-based reporter Amir Efrati woke up Tuesday morning to numerous notifications and hate messages on Twitter telling him to "go to hell" and leave "Mother India".


Little did he know that the threats and insults were meant for Bollywood actor Aamir Khan after he became embroiled in controversy following his remarks on the increasing cases of intolerance in India.

Amir Efrati who tweets as @amir was mistakenly tagged by enraged Indians who confused his Twitter handle with Aamir Khan's, causing all hate messages to be directed towards the reporter.

But instead of taking the tweets seriously, the reporter laughed off the matter revelling in the chance stardom:
