SUKKUR:

China has shown its readiness to upgrade the Sukkur Electric Power Company (Sepco) system under the Pak-China Corridor, said Sepco's chief executive officer Muzaffar Abbasi, while speaking to a delegation of the National Press Club Sukkur at his office on Wednesday.

Pakistan and China have been enjoying a time-tested friendship for decades and we are thankful to the Chinese government for offering its services to upgrade our system, he said.

Abbbasi said, at the time of Sepco's inception in 2010, they had 750,000 connections and now 2015 will end without a single new connection being added.

More than 500,000 people are using electricity through kundas, which we want to regularise, he said. Sepco's board of directors have decided to provide new connections to people who have been using electricity through kundas after a payment of Rs150, Abbasi said.
