Bowler dismantles Port Qasim as side wins by an innings and 119 runs

KARACHI: Azizullah’s six-wicket haul in the second innings enabled SNGPL to crush Port Qasim by an innings and 119 runs in their round five fixture of the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy at the Iqbal Stadium in Faisalabad on Wednesday.

Port Qasim, trailing by 163 runs, resumed their second innings on 25-4 and were dismissed for just 69 as Azizullah, who took three wickets in the first innings, took six more in the second to completely dismantle Port Qasim. Bilawal Bhatti and Samiullah Niazi, meanwhile, claimed two wickets apiece.

In the match at the Pindi Stadium, hosts Rawalpindi resumed their second innings on 114-4 and were restricted to 218 as Karachi Whites’ Adeel Malik took six wickets in the second innings to finish with 10 in the match. At the end of play, Karachi Whites were on trouble as they were batting on 60-6, 122 runs short of the target.

At the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore, Sami Aslam (221) scored a double century while Usman Sallahudin registered a 111-run knock to help Lahore Whites post a strong first innings total of 508-8 before declaring. Fata were on 54-2 at stumps in their second innings, trailing the hosts by 140 runs.

At the National Ground in Islamabad, HBL resumed their second innings on 20-3 and added 113 runs with the help of Muhammad Waqas (50) before declaring on 133-8. KRL were on 45-2 at stumps, requiring 267 runs to win on the final day.

Meanwhile, SSGC were 5-0 in their second innings, trailing UBL by 265 runs at the Marghazar Ground in Islamabad after being dismissed for 244 on the third day, while hosts Lahore Blues were 83-1 in their second innings at the LCCA Ground in Lahore, leading Peshawar by 55 runs after the visitors had made 295 in the first innings.
