SWABI: The dispute resolution committee (DRC) in the district has demanded the civil administration impose a ban on underage driving and prohibit the use of unregistered vehicles.

A handout issued on Tuesday said the demand was put forward through a resolution adopted unanimously in a DRC meeting chaired by Syed Sabz Ali Shah. DPO Javed Iqbal Marwat and other committee members attended the meeting.

DRC spokesman Mohammad Rashid said, “A proposal has been prepared keeping in view various issues raised by committee members such as the issuance of fake documents, underage driving, unregistered vehicles, and driving without licences or without vehicle permits.” He added, “These issues will be raised in a meeting with the representatives of government departments as the committee has shown concern over an increase in number of accidents and fatalities in Swabi.”

Rashid said, “The committee has disposed of 34 applications of reconciliation in the past few months while two committees have been formed to resolve issues in a timely manner.”
