The actress took to Twitter to show her love and support for the Bollywood actor.

Bollywood megastar Aamir Khan may be facing severe backlash from Indians, but one Pakistani fan has offered her house to the star and his entire family in case he wishes to move to Pakistan.

And that fan is none other than our very own Meera jee!

Indians lash out at Aamir Khan for statement on intolerance

The actress took to Twitter to show her love for Aamir and gifted her 'newly built farmhouse' in Lahore to the PK actor:

She also confessed that he was like family to her:

She's not the only Pakistani who has shown support for the Bollywood actor though. Local filmmaker and Moor director Jami Mahmood also stressed that the actor must have good reason to voice such a concern.

"What Aamir Khan is saying is about intolerance and if there is a backlash, then one has to think -- maybe he is right. It is Aamir Khan who is saying this. He is one of your best. He is one of your best actors and activists. He is a hard core Indian and it is in his blood," the director told IANS at the International Film Festival of India.

Wife suggested we leave India: Aamir Khan

"We have gone through this a lot of times in Pakistan as well and seeing this happen to Aamir Khan is not fair. He has given so much to the industry. I look up to him so much. It is sad," he added.

Oscar-winning music composer AR Rahman admitted that he too faced a situation similar to the actor's a few months after a fatwa was issued against him. "Nothing should be violent. We're all ultra-civilised people and we should show the world that we are the best civilisation," the composer was quoted as saying by Times of India.

The actor has been facing severe backlash from members of the Bollywood fraternity after he said his wife is scared of living in India following a number of cases pertaining to religious intolerance and even suggested moving out of the country.

However, a few have come in support of the actor and spoken up for him. One of them is renowned Indian journalist Barkha Dutt, who also stood by SRK after his remark on intolerance in India.

Kabir Khan tried to clear the misunderstanding, "Aamir didn't meant to say that nation is intolerant, but the atmosphere is intolerant," Times of India quoted the director as saying.

Jazbaa director's tweets also showed his utter exasperation at the controversy:

Nobody has the right to call our country intolerant: Anupam Kher

“Look, you have a point of view. Let it be heard. I heard about Aamir Khan's statement this morning. In fact, I read about it. He has a point of view, let it be heard. We can debate about it," Indian screenwriter Saeed Mirza told IANS.

Director Anurag Kashyap too shared his views on the matter: “Intolerance has always been there. We don’t have freedom of expression. It is something we have to live with, do our own bit, fight and refuse to participate. I hope it silences,” he was quoted as saying by the Indian Express.

However, others were not so forgiving:

According to PinkVilla, Ranbir Kapoor thought the matter has been given undue attention. "[The] intolerance question is being blown out of proportion. I do not get the feeling that intolerance has gone up. Intolerance has always been around. Unfair to say things have suddenly turned intolerant," said the actor.

His father, veteran actor Rishi Kapoor had a few words of advice for Aamir:

Anupam Kher also lashed out at the actor:

And former actress Raveena Tandon was just furious:

I never said India is intolerant: Shah Rukh Khan

Aamir is not the only Bollywood actor to come under fire for his 'intolerance' statement. Megastar Shah Rukh Khan was also victim to controversy when he said there was growing intolerance in India.

“It is stupid… It is stupid to be intolerant and this is our biggest issue, not just an issue… Religious intolerance and not being secular in this country is the worst kind of crime that you can do as a patriot,” he had said.
