Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan has said his party “will spend taxpayers’ money on the country's poor people instead of 'wasting' it on building roads" when it comes to power.

“I will not have to campaign for elections after the current government's tenure ends,” Imran told a huge gathering of party workers and supporters in Swabi district of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) on Sunday.

The PTI chief announced the merger of Swabi-based Awami Jamhoori Ittehad Pakistan’s (AJIP) with the PTI, and congratulated the former’s leadership for their decision.

Two become one: AJIP to merge with PTI today

While accepting his party’s negligence in timely redressal of health issues of the people of K-P, Imran vowed to build finest hospitals and education facilities across the province.

“Although it has been delayed but you will soon see a change,” he said.

The PTI chairman said his party will also launch a cricket academy for children in K-P besides creating a number of sports facilities in the province.

“Wasim Akram has already agreed, and we will soon start a cricket academy for our children who will emerge as the best cricketers.”

The K-P government will announce special relief packages for orphans and widows, and create rehabilitation centres for street children in various provincial cities, added the PTI chief.

Imran Khan sees his vindication in a calmer Pakistan

The cricketer-turned politician was of the view that all parties had ganged up against PTI, but claimed he will solely fight against all and defeat them.

Imran said his government fulfilled its promise by commercialising all government guest houses in K-P, which saved considerable resources.

“We have not privatised but commercialised the guest houses and soon will commercialise the K-P Chief Minister’s House,” he elaborated.

Khan | 8 years ago | Reply There is something called priorities, if you have an old house and kids to send to school, what would you do as priority get a new paint(signal free corridors)?and spend all on your masterbed(Lahore) or as a priority send kids to school first, that is all he and every sane Pakistani asks. However, sharif priory is road roads and more roads, water education, health can go to dumpers! Infrastructure is important but not only in Lahore , why not change the police system, in the cost of metro that could have been reformed first! Get it!@Rex Minor:
F Khan | 8 years ago | Reply I am very surprised that the PTI Chief can make such a statement as saying he will not invest in making roads. If people do not have freedom of movement and easy access -- how can any country prosper? At least in this instance, the PM has the right idea.
