Reckless driving: Three dead, four injured in accidents

FIRs registered in both cases

MARDAN/SHANGLA: At least three people died while four others were wounded in a road mishap in Mardan and Shangla on Wednesday.

Katlang SHO Fazal Akbar Khan told The Express Tribune 17-year-old Adnan was on his motorcycle along with his cousins, 11-year-old Sudais and seven-year-old Sheheryar, when a speeding vehicle ran them over.

“The driver was coming at a high speed and hit a motorcycle carrying the three passengers near Kharki,” he said. “Adnan died on the spot while the other two later succumbed to their injuries at
the hospital.”

The police official said the driver managed to flee the crime scene. However, an FIR was registered against him and further investigation was under way.

Meanwhile, four people were injured when a jeep fell into Khan Khawar River from Sirai Pul in Karora area of Shangla on Wednesday.

Ihsan, an official of Karora police station, told The Express Tribune Bakht Zaman and three brothers – Khan Zada, Umar Ali and Muhammad Zada – were travelling from a relief camp in Ranyal area of the district when the  accident occurred.

“The driver lost control of the vehicle near Serai Pul area which ultimately plunged into the river,” he said. Ihsan added the wounded were rushed to the hospital and are in stable condition.

Serai Pul was in a dilapidated condition and has witnessed several other  accidents recently.
