LARKANA:

The Sindh health department released the first quarter funds of Rs6.46 million for the repair and maintenance of office buildings at the Chandka Medical College Hospital (CMCH), Larkana, on November 12 and placed the entire amount at the disposal of the medical superintendent.

The budget was approved in June and should have been released in July or August.

Almost all the government quarters and bungalows of CMCH are in poor condition, which should now be demolished with multi-storey buildings constructed to provide more accommodation to employees, according to officials.

The Civil Hospital Nursing Hostel, where 14 staff nurses are staying with their children, is over 50 years old.

The Student Nurses Hostel at Shaikh Zayed Hospital is also in a dilapidated condition, where over 50 student nurses reside.
