FAISALABAD: Trade volume between Pakistan and Romania has been improving with the balance of trade in favour of Romania, however, this volume does not depict the real potential and can be improved further, Romanian Ambassador Emilian Ion said.

Speaking at a meeting during his visit to the Pakistan Textile Exporters Association (PTEA) office, the envoy said Pakistan was a huge market that offered excellent opportunities to Romanian businessmen in various sectors of the economy, particularly the textile sector.

He noted that both countries had been enjoying historical friendship and traditional cooperation in many fields for the past many years but more efforts must be made to further strengthen the ties by holding business-to-business meetings, exchanging trade delegations and taking other such initiatives.

Ion stressed that Pakistan had great untapped potential which could be well utilised by cementing relationship between business communities of both the countries. “There is a dire need for exploring the potential in trade and commerce at the bilateral level as well as the European Union level.”

PTEA Chairman Asghar Ali said Romania was an important trading partner of Pakistan within the European Union. Both economies had great potential but bilateral trade was negligible and endeavours were needed to improve that.
