With the pen: Education minister urges schools to focus on standards

The school’s principal briefed the meeting about the facility’s performance and highlighted some problems

Minister for Education Muhammad Atif Khan directed authorities of Swabi Model School to focus on the standard of education and take steps to make the institute self-sufficient. He issued these directives while chairing a meeting of the school’s board of governors in Peshawar on Wednesday. The meeting was also attended by Education Secretary Ali Raza Bhutta and officials of relevant departments. The school’s principal briefed the meeting about the facility’s performance and highlighted some problems. He said the fee structure was less than half of other private educational institutes and spoke of the school’s excellent performance. He recommended an increase in teachers’ salaries which was approved by the board. The meeting also approved a boundary wall for the school and the task of solving issues with the road was assigned to the Swabi deputy commissioner.
