KARACHI: Milli Yakjehti Council (MYC), a platform of religious parties to promote harmony, resolved to maintain peace and harmony during the month of Muharram. The council met on Monday at Jamaat-e-Islami headquarters to look into ways to ensure peace.

MYC head Sahabzada Abulkhair called for sectarian harmony and unity among various sects. He felt that banning religious clerics and programmes can have negative consequences on peace efforts. JI leader Asadullah Bhutto claimed the entire Muslim Ummah is on the same page when it comes to the sanctity of Muharram. Some miscreants used to spread hatred and terrorism on this religious occasion but, he vowed, they will fail such conspiracies with the help of unity and harmony. Allama Nazir Abbas Naqvi said that the message of Muharram is peace, love and harmony.
