Food Quality: Gymkhana fined for poor hygiene

Food Safety Officer Komal Akbar and her team also found expired burgers, buns and cakes from the club’s kitchen

LAHORE: The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) fined the management of Lahore Gymkhana on Thursday for poor hygiene, using products without labels and for leftover food found in freezers. Food Safety Officer Komal Akbar and her team also found expired burgers, buns and cakes from the club’s kitchen. She fined the club Rs25,000 and also issued a warning to the management. Speaking to The Express Tribune, Operations Director Ayesha Mumtaz said, “Some people might think that they are above the law. Food safety standards and regulations are for everyone.”
